I like the look of 17" on 35s. Looks more balanced. The only issue is that most tires in that size are for a heavier truck and ride a little rougher.
Me, I think I'm sticking to 15" mainly because of the availability of these: www.rockmonsterwheels.com Jason 1997 TJ 4.0L AW4 D44/Super 8.8 35x12.5 KM2, Onboard Air Gen II AiRock/Longarms PRR Inc, Because rocks can't drive |

I tend to agree Jason. The biggest reason for the poll is to see what everyone's opinions are on the handling characteristics of the different size wheels. Keep in mind I've kinda been out of the scene for about a year and a half. I seem to rememer the 17" wheels gaining in popularity, but I can't remember why. I would think you would have less sidewall flex due to the shorter sidewall.

15's only because the tire prices are the cheapest.. try getting a tire in a 17" rim and your jaw will drop with the price. i like the 15x8 personally and have never broken a bead yet and i usually wheel at 12-10 psi with my 35's. true a 15x8 is a pita to reseat the beads but thats why i have a spare and thats why i have america's tire...lol

If I could afford it I would run 17x9's I have noticed that with my 15x8's and my 35's, the tires are too wide for the wheel. They are kinda bubble shaped at the top instead of being flat....and no I dont have too much air in them. Im running about 20PSI on the street and the still wear down the center. I WONT run 15x10's because they are just too wide for a 12.50" wide tire if you ask me.

totally depends on the tire size
If you are running 37", 40" tires or bigger, a bigger than 15" wheel is 'better'. But for my 35's I'm quite happy with the 15" alloys |

Well It'll be a DD with the weekend warrior play time.
I've noticed the price differences between the different size wheels, and tires, for that matter. I can understand the wheels being more expensive but, I'm having a hard time understanding why the tire prices have to be so much more. What I had in mind was maybe going to a 17" wheel and tire. Thinking I would end up with a stiffer sidewall with the 17"ers and give a more surefooted feel on the road. However, I'm not sure that would be the best size for all around driving. So that's what prompted the poll. Dennis 05 Yellow Not Limited Rubi (excpt for the shovel under my Jeep) 88 Sami JX Locked, Lifted, & Lobstered |

It is still hard, expensive, to get a backspace of more than 4 on 17 x 9. I am having a hard time getting a 17x9 in aluminum that has a 3.25 backspace so I can run 13.5" wide tires. I will may be stuck with steel wheels for the time. As for price superswamper IROK's are all about the same price 15,16, and 17's. A 39.5x13.5-15,16 or 17 are all $230ish

I really haven't checked into backspacing yet. I'd rather have about 3.50 to 3.75 on a 9 or 10 inch wide wheel. I'm a wide tire freak. I'm kinda thinking though if I can find a set of 17" er's that wont break the bank, that's what I'll go with.
