It only takes about 15-20 minutes to pull the t-case and it makes the job a whole lot easier.

I pulled my t-case out also. I like working on the bench rather than laying under my Jeep. At work I just leave the t-case in there sence 95% of the time I'll have the Jeep up on the lifts so its no big deal unless Im rebuilding the whole thing.

THe hack n tap instructions seemed kinda vague, i would have probably screwed it up, so i went with the heavdy duty sye.

I used a Tom Woods SYE kit.
I did it with the xfer case in the vehicle with the vehicle on a lift. I would not do it that way again. Everything went OK, but it would have been easier to just take it out. 1994 YJ 1995 XJ 2001 WJ |

Just outta curiosity, are you doing the SYE install? If so, you can also do the lift install unless you're getting something with a lot of cutting and welding you're not set up for. Yes, you can install the SYE and then drive to the shop, leave the rear driveshaft off if you have one already (Don't reuse old) and put in 4 HI to go in front wheel drive. You will have to ensure your rear pinion angle is correct after the lift before you run the rear driveshaft. To boldly go where we're too stupid to know any better.
