what pressure plate are you useing? I have read about there beeing 2 diffrent types of pressure plates, one made for hydro linkage and one for mecanical linkage. The problem could be there. If not, then you might just have adjust it to find a "in between"

I dont think it will matter if you can get the master to push more fluid/pressure, the slave only goes out so far.
