The article http://www.rockcrawler.com/features/newsshorts/04september/jeep_six_speed.asp states that "There are also power take off access covers on both sides of the transmission."
Any chance of some equipment becoming available for using with these PTO's? I'd like to see air compressors, welders and other tools taking advantage of these! |

Good question.. perhaps TXjeeper can push some buttons with his contacts and see.
Of course PTO stuff only works when the motors runnin'... but I still like the concept. Experienced Driver; Detroit's, Swampers and Sanity Optional. Moderator Rockcrawler TJ Forum WE Rocks Pro West Team #8: Rockstomper Racing My BLOG: Sometimes Daily Commentary |

Yes, the PTO would only work while the jeep is running, but I'd like to make use out of my 190hp engine that is under the hood. It'd be nice to replace some of the stuff we have that runs on 12V and is slower/more expensive/heavier, then the PTO version would be.

I think you were reading it wrong, its talking about transmissions for both the Jeeps and dodge trucks. the one they are putting in the Jeeps is the NSG 370. They dont say anything about it having pto ports. Now I think the one your thinking about is the G56 that is gonna replace the nv4500 and nv5600 in the dodge trucks. It says that it is gonna have dual output pto ports. I was at a local Jeep dealer a couple weeks ago and I was looking under a new wrangler with the 6 speed and I saw no pto ports on the tranny.
