I have had the RE HnP SYE now for years and have been having trouble with the snap ring disapearing. My questions are:
  • Any one else have this problem?
  • How did you fix it?
  • What size is the snap ring?

Last time I nopticed this I called RE and they said they have never heard of this happening. So what is going on here? This is like the 10th snap ring I have lost. BTW the slip shaft is moveing free and this is a trail only rig so the drive shaft really never turns really high RPMs.

Are u positve that the hack and tap is on centered, could aid in throwing the snap rings. Ive never heard of them just throwing off either.

Yeah it is centered I actually had a machine shop cut and drill and tap it for me, It is good to know people. I was wondering if hitting the DS on the rocks could be causing part of the problem. When the snap ring does go you never notice it being gone, even whan I did drive on the highway. I am at a loss.

yeah I have trie the next size larger DIA. and it is so big that the ends hit each other when installed and it wqas lost the first day. The problem I see with the flange being able to move a litle on the shaft is the seal gets worn out fast. Like it really seals anyways.

The term is a nick name given to the Rubicon Express slip yoke eliminator. Copied from the source:
quote:
Stock Jeeps have a slip yoke style output shaft at the rear driveline. This design is not conducive to off road use nor the steeper operating angles caused by suspension lifts. To ensure smooth and durable driveline operation, convert to a fixed yoke output and install a CV driveshaft. A must on all lifts over 3.5". This kit requires the modification of your stock output shaft. Drill and tap included for easy installation. Drive flange is machined from solid Stainless Steel for extreme strength and corrosion resistance.
