This is late...but what the hell....

Do you know the extent of what has to be done? Valve guides, seats, and a 3-angle grind doesnt really run that much as long as you take the head in and they dont have to worry about dissasembly. You can lap the valves yourself and reassemble the head to save some money.....i recommend doing this anyways so you can get a good inspection in before putting the head back on. I also recommend having the head magnafluxed and decked or at least checked for warpage while you have it at the shop.....its good insurance.

i just bought a 94 jeep grand cherokee head 7120 cast number for my stroker build. im not gonna worry about the current engine i have, im just gonna build up my new monster. im gonna port and polish it, get larger exhaust valves, 3 angle grind, and all the normal rebuild stuff needed.

ok the head just came back from the machine shop. got it magnafluxed, cleaned, and inspected. checks out perfect. cost =25.00
bought a port kit=40.00
made a work bench= 40.00
bought a 90degree air angle grinder ebay 14.00
head came with the intake/exhaust gasket yeah!

now i just use the gasket as a guide and mark where i need to port. then i get busy
then i take the head back the shop, have em deck the block mating surface put new valve guides in and have em mill the intake valve chambers out to 2.02 so i can run dodge 5.9 stainless steel intake valves. stock stainless steel exhaust. then they will install all new mopar springs, retainers, locks,.. and do a 3 angle valve job and assemble it for me.. done.. price about 450.00

i'll snap some pics of the build up if anyone cares... should afford me about 35-40 hp more than a stock new head.

then its on the the block build up.
