Bought it off a guy from Ga whose in school there. His front axle was smashed in a wreck, so he never got the opportunity to install the Aussie. He was able to upgrade to a D44, because of the insurance. I wish someone would hit just my axle but the rear one instead, right on the tire. Wink

I can hook a strap up to it and drag it around a bit. And then i would of course leave the seen, you could report that someone was trying to steal your jeep.

dkr,

This post sure generated some interest and opinions to your question, but seems to have diverged from your original question. We all have to run what we have and upgrade as we can afford, so if price is a concern and you can't afford a brand new Dynatrac Dana 60 then you must do what you can. Plus you have to consider what you plan to do with your Jeep so you can get what you need, not what others would buy with your money. Anyway, here's my $.02...I just put Eaton Elockers in my Jeep, and last weekend went out and wrung the wee out of it. Spent most of the trails with the rear locked while in mud, on rocks, and over logs running through Evans Creek near Mt. Rainier. Front saw plenty of action also. I researched this decision for over a year waiting for the money tree out back to bloom, The benefits, and the reasons I chose them;
1) Cheaper than other popular selectable lockers.
2) No external actuator to get torn off like Tera or others.
3) Wire is easier to fix than air line if a problem occurs on the trail.
4) Air source not needed, just 2 wires.
5) Selectable, no annoyance on the street.
6) Solid company with good history.
7) No internal seals to fail.
8) Actuated by an electro-magnet similar to your A/C clutch, when's the last time you saw one of those fail?
I talked to Eaton over a year ago while doing my own research, they should have a version for Dana 30 & 35 by now, at least they said they would. They recently moved their factory, so there was a hiccup in delivery for a while, but that seems to be resolved. I also had new gears installed, and the shop that did them had no trouble setting everything up on the new lockers. It was their first install of an Eaton, and they were very impressed with the quality also. Good luck with your rig, and your build up.

Mark

The E-lockers look good, but costly. I like the idea of staying away from air lines

Sounds like a great system...I would have a problem here as we don't have any real 4wd shops around here...so install would be iffy

Do you have any hot rod shops around? Gears are gears when it comes to setup, and the same basic stuff applies to a Jeep or a Mustang. If they are a good shop with quality mechanics and a good rep, talk to 'em and see. Better than learning on your own...
