I just bought someone's exsisting Jeep project and I'm trying to ID the trasfer case. It looks like a NP231 (no ID tag) but the seller told me it's a Dana 300 with a 4:1 kit. It is not a Dana 300. The Jeep (87 YJ) originaly had a 4.2 and man. trans. but now hosts a 5.7 TBI chevy and 700R4. How can I verify the T-case and how can I verify the t-case gear ratio with the auto trans? I know one half of the case is changed with the 4:1 kits. Are there any markings the stand out on those new transfer case halves?
Here's what I CAN tell you: Aluminum tranfer case SYE (with tone ring for speedo) Mated to 700R4 Driver's side front output shaft Thanks for the help guys, P.S. Is there another site that may possibly be a better help for tough tech questions? |
