Well, it turns out that this was an oddly matched pair.
Here's a quick review of both the Nylint 1:6 Rock Crawler and the New Bright 1:6 H2 Tricked Hummer (19.2V).
The NB Hummer has got large beefy tires and a 19.2V rear motor which makes this guy a speed deamon for offroading. I'll have some video footage to link to shortly when google approves it. At 1:6 scale, this Hummer is larger than the Jeep Wrangler and even if your not a fan of Hummers the vehicle is impressive to look at.
The Nylint Jeep was at the opposite end of the spectrum. It is much slower (in high gear) but certailny has a powerful 12V SLA battery and 4WD going for it. I hadn't realized how much of a "crawl" low gear is, but there is certainly plent of torque strength there and the articulation of the body is excellent. I guess the best complement is the fact that this is one of the most impressive RTR vehicles I've ever seen. Sure there'[s a good bit of consumer (looks plastic) but this guy is solid and heavy.
I am a bit torn. The Hummer is a blast but the Nylint really gives you more when you think about it.
Both suffer from cheaper chargers and INSANE battery charging times. I understand that the solution is to buy two batteries, but even so I end up with an hour to an hour & 1/2 of run time and 8-12 hrs of charging after that. Kind of sad. It would be nice to have one ready when the other is spent. (I'm told that it is possible to get quick chargers for both NiCAD and SLA batteries but the pricing of these units can get prohibitive.)
Were are you people getting such crap as "1/3" off the the price? I walked into wal-mart and found them for $159. Last I remeber, it had gone up $10 not down. And I don't know but of one person around here that even owns one! I never see them at the track either. What the heck?
I bought one at Walmart a few months ago for 89$ and the other day I found another one there for 49$ so I bought it. There is alot to be said for those Nylints. Just keep your eyes open. Even the prices on E-bay are coming down.
