Try your local Canadian Tire - they sometime carry them around Christmas but should be blowing them out the door now that the toy season for them is over.

you could also try "Best Buy" "Future Shop" and last but not least ( ha ) Wallymart - I have seen them at all of these locations,
" Wallymart" I think was the only store that had the BIG 1/6 ones, the rest were all 1/10 , but they tend to dump 'em fast after Christmas as Sean said..

( I have to get back to "lubbing" the trails Big Grin )

Yes, I've seen the 1/6 at the local Futureshop and Winners but, to be honest, they're a bit too big for my taste!! If I ever try anything bigger it'll be something in super class.

they're a bit large for my taste as well - superclass ( to me anyway ) would do me no good around here..... it would just climb anything that I could find to put in its way... not a lot of good terrain for that scale...

the large batteries, and chargers, charger time was also a concern when I originally saw "Twigs" machine a long while back - although I must say that they really do look good Smile

( of what's available the most I saw were at "Wallymart" and didn't seem to be selling.. so you might your best good shot there )

I'll stay at 1/10 - good for what I have around this part of the planet Big Grin

Phatchantz you summarize what I think.

The 1/10 is ideal for those who do not have the terrain around their homes to climb onto the rocks a Model 1/6.

I envy those who holds this rocky terrain near their homes and who can play with these big monster.

I am excited to watch a few videos of these 1/6.

I just picked one up last week at canadian tire. At least in ottawa ontario, they are on sale for $97.
I actually had a 50 buck gift card so ended up paying very little for it. If you pick one up, I would suggest replacing the battery as it sucks. You can get a pair of 2300+ nimh batteries off ebay for about 30 bucks; well worth it.

Which one was 97 bucks? The 1:6?
Does anyone know where you can get one in the usa? It'll cost me way more than that to modify my land rover to get it to be a strong crawler

they will have another sale.. I remember talking to them last year after Christmas, and they told me that they only stock toys at that time, so they will blow them out again ( count on it )..you just have to keep watching their web site(s) or dropping in the store(s)..

sorry - have no info on US places to grab one, although places like "Target" were mentioned Smile

Yes, the 1:6. Although it says $149.99 on the canadiantire website, that does not mean it is not still on sale in some stores. The one in our city still has a whole bunch of them for the sale price as they are trying to get rid of their xmas stock.

hey Barry, what store did you shop at.... ( I am, in Ottawa too ) ??

If anyone is looking for extra batteries ( stock ) for these - Wallymart had quite a few last time I was in ( South Keys )

( aren't the stock batteries 19.2 v or so - does it run well on 7.2 which is what I'm guessing you bought ? )

I'm actually just outside of ottawa, in rockland, so it was the cdn tire in rockland. Its advertised as 19.2v on the website, but its a typo as its actually a 9.6v that comes with it. You might want to call before making the trip out, but last week they still had a bunch for the sale price.
How much are they asking for the stock batteries at walmart? If its the same one that comes with the vehicle, I believe its only a 600 mAh because it only lasted about 15 mins; and that was just playing around on the hardwood floors inside! As noted in a previous thread, this vehicle also has the standard tamiya connector in the battery compartment so I would suggest getting a couple off ebay. I've got a couple 2300 mAh NiMh on the way. With shipping it came to about 30 bucks. Those will get you much more run time.

thanks for the info - I thought that they were the 19.2 bats.... if you look around Wallymart
( I did last year ) I found direct drop in replacements at 9.6 with 1250 mAh instead of the normal ones - I did what you are doing with an LR3 but got a tamiya extender at the lhs and placed the battery on top of the chassis ( lots of room inside the LR3 ) - ran a 3200 pack from the lhs at about $30.00 - but you really need a fast charger for these - mine takes about 30 minutes ( fast charge ) - otherwise it takes forever..

( stuff I already had around from my
Wheely King )

the price I don't recall - but they were the 19.2 anyway which would give you a BBQ Big Grin

Wallymart usually has a discounted section - that's where I found the 1250 mAh batteries with charger included after Christmas for about $10.00 or so, not great run times, but much better and more "punch" when you need it..

f.y.i.

just got back from the local CDN Tire... was talking to the sales person about these - they are changing their approach this year - they have put the remaining ones back in storage rather than have a blow out sale - and are going to offer them in the spring/summer in the sporting goods part of the store....

so the moral is - if you see them on sale
( still ) - grab em Big Grin - cause it doesn't look like they will have any more sales on them Frown

I see three 1:6 Denali's sitting at the local fleetfarm, already down to 85 from 100. Wisconsin, north of milwaukee.
Is the denali the same as the jeep and the landrover

I just got a 1:6 jeep crawler from amazon for 80 bucks inc free shipping!! I was on their site and saw in stock 1!! had to have it. On my first charge tonight, my jeep 9.6 volt 1:6 NB out climbed my modded 1:6, 2 x 19.2 landrover!! The case is that the landrover is at least 3 x if not 4 times the speed of the jeep. The landrover also has a shock on the center of the diff to stop it torquing up on accelleration, ie 5 shpocks per end!!. The motors on the land rover are much larger too and mounted in a different position all together. the motor mounts for the jeep diff are on still present on the landrover diff. I have taken pics but not posted yet.
Now I am confused as what mods I should do!! If I can get the power train and electrics from the 19.2 landrover to the gear ratio of the jeep it will be one wicked crawler , or I will just end up with a bunch of stripped or melted parts Smile
