i have bought 2 lr3's from a company on ebay, i did it through local pick up... well the first one i picked up was missing the battery (stock 600 nicd) since i was picking up the second one the next week i told them they owed me a battery and i would collect the battery when i picked up the second lr3, so they didnt have it ready when i got there, so after some poking around they came back with a battery, i didnt really look at it too closely and left, well, i noticed it was greyer than the others, i check and its the newbright nimh (stock slide in style non-tamiya connector) this totally screws me as i do not have a nimh charger for the slide in kind, i DO have a tamiya connector nimh style... if i rig up wires to the contacts on the slide in nimh and plug it into the tamiya connector it should work right? (also hopefully someone on here has an extra nimh slide in battery charger i could buy off ya)
hey marmech buddy ol pal. you think you could save me one of those lr3's. but as for your question i don't think you would be able to wire that battery to e a taimya connector. cause wouldn't the plastic connector not have enough room to plug in. hope an of this insite helps you.

well i was thinking of cutting the chargers cord, then just hooking it up to the contacts of the slide bat, i could just use some electrical connectors and plug the tamiya back into the chargers cord for regular batteries, as for saving you one, i keep bidding on these for cheap as possible, if i win a couple i will be able to HOLD one for you, as for one of the two i have... one is officially designated to my gf and the other will be my only running rig, i have my old rig stripped to just axles and electrical, but seriously, if you tell me how much you want to spend on one i will keep bidding on your behalf... they can go for super low and are actually in ok shape if you dont mind a couple detached fake lights
NiMH are more tolerant to charging than NiCd, so you'll have no probs. I think the only reason you see chargers listed as NiMH is because they are higher rated charging and could melt NiCd.s!
I normally like to keep the charging rate below 1/3 of capacity (ie. <200mAh for a standard 600mAh pack) which takes about 4 hours to charge. However, I think even NiCd.s can go to 1 hour - at least occasionally - without harm, and NiMH even higher charging rates. HTH

A gude rule of thumb is that if the battery is getting hot whilst charging - you're probably charging too fast. However, a New Bright charger is not capable of damaging a NiMh or Nicad. They are slow chargers about 100-150mA.
