I've got a new truck! I won the auction for it on Ebay for $5.60! It's the 4 wheel drive Hummer from Radio Shack with the tracks Smile I should recieve in 3 or 4 days.

I can't wait to get my hands on it and see what I can do to it..hehe..maybe nothing..I do want to try and waterproof it and seal it up and take it mudboggin, also going to try and fit my Moab tires on it..see how it does, I think they may fit..that'd be cool.

I don't know what sort of suspension system it's got or motors..don't know if it's a local or dual (like ours). Because it's not a Newbright, I understand if you'd rather not hear anymore about it but I'd be happy to share pics, videos and stories about it.

I think it's a fairly decent looking truck myself..Okay, let me correct my earlier statement: It does have 2 motors like ours, and 4 wheel independant suspension, and apparently a totally flat underside..major ground clearance it looks like from the pic I posted. I like it! If any of you are interested, there is still yet another just like it on Ebay for .99 (current bid showing) but there is probably a larger bid on it..check it out.

Tex, yes, hopefully it'll come with it's own set of wheels and tires and they look like 2.2 size. I can't wait to put my Moabs on it. It should be a good runner.

I had no idea Mattracks were real, that's cool, this truck is modeled directly from the real H2 with Mattracks Smile I really like how it looks.

I don't know if I'm necessarily going to make it into a Rockcrawler per say, I just want to mess with it and have it perform in a general all terrain setting and have fun with it. We'll just have to see where it goes and what's possible.

yeah it's the same scale as our Newbright Jeeps. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it as well, anxious to check the suspension action and the underside belly looks flat..i like that.

I'm more excited about it now than I was when I was bidding on it! Interested to see how well the tracks work. They don't seem to have much tread or traction on them. I may be able to find some short tank track with more tread to fit in their place.

I've read a couple negative feedback from Radio Shack customers but I'm just hoping they're somehow stupid and whatever caused them to speak negatively about the truck was partially their own doing.

Dude, that thing rocks. I've checked them out MANY times at my local "shack". they are independent suspension, 4 wheel drive, with one central motor (probably a 540) driving a transmission and 2 driveshafts to the front and rear. locking the diffs on it would make it a much better crawler, and even though it's fast, it's also got insane torque. I'm not too sure about 2.2's fitting it, I know the wheels are a little smaller than the NB, which are 2.5's, so it's possible.

as for the tracks, eh... haven't asctually seen them in use, but if they are anything like real tracks, as long as there is a lot of weight on them they'll probably do ok, but softer tires are more than likely your best bet.

Ramza, you know a lot more about this than I do..I read one of the customer reviews that it had two motors..I think those people have no idea what they're talking about when they write those..there is still another just like it on ebay for like 1 or 2 bucks..current bid is still like .99 cents but I know it's more than that...auction is ending in 2 days, just check the link in my original post.

I did have to buy a battery pack for it today, it claims in the details there is no charger or battery pack Frown

I really haven't had a chance to get my hands on one yet..when mine arrives on my doorstep it'll be the first inspection I've had. I'm really looking foward to it though, I think it's one of coolest looking trucks on the market and the fact that it comes with the tracks and wheels is totally cool..I'm going to try a half track operation too..tracks in the back and tires up front. I just want to have fun with it, maybe some crawling, maybe not..I don't know.

Have you seen the video of this thing at your local "shack" ? I haven't seen it yet.

nope, no videos of it, but I've driven it, haha. they actually keep batteries in the displays at my local shack, and let people play with them. you won't be disapointed, all but having to buy a battery pack. Big Grin

I am 98% positive that there is only one motor, considering that they are linked by a driveshaft. Razz

I'll recieve it on Thursday Tex! I'll post pics of it and the design and whatever else I can think of. I do now have a very good 7.2V 3300 milliamp battery pack waiting for it so I'll be ready to go.

It sounds like it's going to be fairly moddable. Even if it's only got one 380 size motor driving the whole thing, I'll be able to put a modified losi 380 size motor in it. If it has a 540, well then all bets are off and I'll have it roasting over everything! Oil filled shocks I'm sure will be going on..and tires.

MUAAHAHAHAHAHHAA!!!!! GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!

P.S. Okay LOOK there is still one more up for auction on this link,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9531...r4_PcY_BID_Stores_IT

current bid is $10!! Please someone go on there and win that auction and get that truck! I'm very tempted to do it myself but don't know if I should. Oh yeah, don't opt for the extra $4.99 Premium Shipping, it's not necessary. I did but I wasn't aware it was already going to be shipped quickly. These trucks are $70 to $90 in Radio Shack, this is a steal! Come on Tex, go get it!

Hey all, I got my truck! It's not brand new though, it's been used. It is a little dirty but not terribly. So far so good, seen nothing broken on it yet.

It does have independent 4 wheel suspension, only about an inch and a 1/4 of travel though..front and rear differentials and what looks to be a huge motor, like a 550 or something..I can't really tell. It's also got metal dogbones between the hubs and the tranny.

I've attached all the tank treads and mounted all 4 of my Moab tires on the rims, they seem to fit pretty tightly but the rim has an odd "sloping" design to it.

I haven't had a chance to drive it yet and see if everything works..I need my battery pack which is in my other vehicle still at work which I'm about to go and drive back, and I need a 9V battery. When I get back and have a chance to check it out, I'll let you all know the status. So far no pics yet but I will get them up. Should look pretty cool with the larger Moab tires mounted.

Greg
