I understand .. NAT

I made several mods on my LAND ROVER, and also on my DODGE-RAM .. my four missing shocks (or my refund) :-) are not yet arrived ..

and I expected to see some new projects on our forum, but no, nothing at the moment .. Members who were here with us are all on vacation :-)

No new projects = no posts on the forum :-(

I did my best (number of projects made on this forum), my last was my LAND ROVER .. I thought buying a JEEP 1/6 to make a crawler, but this project was for September / October ..

New projects, would be welcome, for interested members and future members ..

J33P3R/COBRA98/JACOB S / Adrian S3109/Drnkirishm/rock hog/theman ..E.T.C .. members who are no longer producing projects ..

I would like to see the forun as active as before ..

I'll wait, and hoped that new projects landing on the forum ..

THANK .. NAT .. you worry about me ..

I think very often to all of you ..

I congratulate you WAYNE S / NAT, for your tenacity to respond to questions asked in this forum ..

THANK

In the meantime, I practice the velo ..

Loulou I still cant believe you trust that thing sitting there on the 14th? floor. That is the porch / balcony right and Rover is about 10 inches at most away from falling to the ground? If so,, you have allot of trust in your self for not being to clumsy LOL.

hey guys, sorry for no shows in the forum of late!! I acquired a brushless 1:18 scale Losi and have been too busy laughing at iut to post or mod my crawler!! sorry, I will get back to the basement.
I went out of control on the purchase front and ended up with a MINT KYosho USA-1, A very clean tamiya wild willy's a losi mini t , a mini baja and a mini LST!!! Not to mention the newbrights x 3 1:6 scale, the mattracks hummer and a clod buster.
The Basement is officially full,

This RC stuff is addicting. Now I am going to thin down the herd a little but I have to play and mod each one too see which ones I want to keep!

WOW you have some nice R/cs there,,,,,,,,,,,You lucky dog.

Can't help yah with thinning the herd. Some of the ones you have are my favs sry.
Now if you listed a Tamiya Hornet and frog/brat/monster beetle in there. I would officially hate you LOL.

Wild willies is an Icon to the R/C world.
Clod axles must be kept at least if you like crawling. The USA-1 is a must stay to.

hmmmmmmmmm To thin the herd maybe clod axles with a 1.6 body and Nylint tires for a scale rig. That I would do. sell the wasted/none used parts off to get a return on the spending.

I think the USA-1 is going to have to go, takes up too much space and is with box so it is even bigger than just a truck!
the only 1:6 shell I have left is a hummer, ironically (being a jeeper) My good jeep has been hacked and cut from me turning it into a JT pickup months back. It didnt turn out well enough for me so now it is really just the front (from the grill to behind the seats)
I am going to build a clod crawl and put some rock lizards or moab beadlocks on er. But that aint newbright talk Smile
My NB cane chassis is being lengthened this week as it flips over backward with those huge wheels and tires. hey wayne s, Your the king of research. I need to fidn out an optimum wheels base for a cane with 7 inch tires on it. It has major ground clearance but when it climbs it gets top heavy, even with no shell Frown

Let me know what you find.
Also On the comp class rig I am gathering for.
clod axles locked rear aluminium locker, front jb weld.
2.2 beadlocks, moabs or rock lizards. cane chassis for starters. DUD setup on rear motor for dig on channel 3. 55 turn motors, thats all I have worked out for now. I am steering away from 4 wheels steer as when I created one, it turned so sharp that it would flip on the rock with me driving as it changes all geometry and weight distribution when it turns. Too unpredictable.

My thoughts are to see what people are running in your area for close to the same setup. Rocks/terrain are to unpredictable to come to a conclusion. If it was me with a cane depending on the actual material and weight of the vehicle could play a big roll on how big or how small you
can go to.

I'm sure for a base line there has to be a way to figure out a starting point using physics and rule of thumb for a none comp rig. For competition there would be rules set, so a base line might be figured out by terrain/rules (Which would include width of Gates etc.

If I (As in me my self) were to figure out a starting point. Going off comp rules around here.
I would set my wheel base about 2 1/2 to 3 inches longer then 2 times the hight of the tire.

So if the tires were 5 inches tall. It would be 2x5=10inches plus 2 1/2 or 3 inches. so 12 1/2
0r 13 inches. Now rules could come into play so just putting this out there.

Now for heck of it if we figure the hight of tire 7 inches. Split the difference between 2 1/2
and 3 inches (2 3/4 inches or 2.75) So 2x7=s 14 + 2.75 =s 16.75/ 16 3/4inches.

Going off what I have seen for something that is not set by rules (none competition) a 4 3/4 to 5 inch tire seams to be more stable at 13 1/2 to 14 1/2 inches with a track width around 12 1/2 inches.

So if we did the math for that and split it down the middle in decimals tire would be 4.875 x2 =s
9.75. 14 - 9.75=s 4.25

so 7inch tire x2=s 14 + 4.25 =s 18.25.

So Doing both comp and none comp and splitting My own Math in half for a 7 inch tire wheel base
Base line would be in the middle of 16.75 and 18.25.
18.25- 16.75=s 1.5 divided by 2 =s .75
so wheel base, base line would be 17.5,,,17 1/2inches.

For me if I was to stand behind my own calcs 17 1/2 inches.
Not saying this is right or wrong just saying there has to be a way to figure it out or at least come up with a base line to start off with and keep a Memo on, to figure which way would be progress or falling behind.

I like your logic and am going to give it a try! Both on my 7 inch tired NB rig and my 2.2 clod rig, now if I could just find some spare time!!
