thanks loulou, i've seen their shock set-ups, and I went with this one because this is the max flex this body will allow without cutting it.
I have someone on a different forum sending me a second car that will get the full treatment; extended chassis, flapding shocks, 4-link, texacto tires with wheel weights, 370 motors, lower gears, etc.
I couldn't stand the white roof thing, too much like a school bus, so I painted the red. Later it will have black painted on the bumper and a few other spots. Notice the chassis and shocks were painted as well.
I started on the back right tire, but didn't have a lot of time to do the rest. I am getting a spare chassis and the person sending it already did the texacto cut to the tires, so these will get that mod later.
I have some radio shack 1600 mAh 9.6V batteries. I'll be using two, one in the stock holder, and one on the front axle. This gives me some weight up front and 3200 mAh runtime.
Monkeyracer, just something to consider. The "Flapding" shocks are designed to add travel via suspension droop, without increasing compression, specifically to allow the body to remain uncut.
When you do the shocks for the second one you are getting, you can always throw them on this rig and see if everything still clears.
This one will be my customized one, hobby elecs, stretched 4 links, etc. so this one will get new shocks during the rebuild. The second one will get these extended shocks. (My shocks add about 1/2" of travel, not much, but it definitely helps.
One will be more of a rock racer, the other will be the crawler, so one will get VMG motors and the other will get a gear treatment. I still want better articulation and reach though, so the crawler will be stretched.
way cool i had the yellow one and ive took the top boots off put shaved wood screws losi rock claws if you put them on they need to be streched on but they will fit its way i love it iam going to compet with the local club soon
