Hey guys, This is what you have to do to your jeep!
I had two of the older style battery packs, cut off the shrink wrap and made my self a new 15.4V pack. All it took is a bit of wire and some solder. So its a 9.6v pack and 4 more cells off the other pack. I'm tempted to add a few more cells, but I'm scared I might burn out the electronics. I know that "New Bright" makes alot of vechiles that run on the 19.2V. I wounder if this jeep is using the same electronics? So if anyone is brave enough to try two 9.6v battery packs do it and tell us.
It had just snowed here, and the jeep is unstoppable! It never got stuck once, and the snow was very deep!
I'd say the Jeep is almost twice as fast as before.
And don't worry about the motors or anything, these motors are made to handle 9.6 volts each. as they are common motors in r/c cars.

enjoi!

Where are you stuffing the cells of the other battery pack? I know even with the old style flatpack its prettymuch full in the battery tray.

Yea, I just got the pack in there and put electical tape, just to see if it would work and not wreck anything. I'm thinking I'll take the body off and mount the battery pack under the body. Or I'll make something with zip ties that will hold it where in the orginal location.

Not with the electronics that come in the rc. And you would be out of luck with any other hobby electronics as well.

There is one way, get a relay hook up the wires that come from the pc board, into the signal then have other batteries wired into the relay and when you click it on, you'd have whatever voltage you want going to the motors.
but thats kinda complicated.

that wouldnt work well with the proportional throttle either. i guess you could hook up a separate ESC...

I wrote a title named "High voltage".Since you tried a lot (and thanks for that),could you tell me the "initial" voltage when you install your batteries. For example, the original battery=9.6 volts indicated, but the charger=11.1 volts and the fresh battery=10.8 volts. So if you say 15.4 V,is it the true voltage or the one you think it is?Thank you!

I would like to know the true voltage (with a digital multimeter)of your experiment. When you say that motors are made to handle 9.6 volts each,is this by specs, experience ?And what is the expected life of the stock motor at 9.6 volts vs 15 volts? My drill battery is 16.2 volts and soon I will test with a small bulb (1157) in serie to drop the voltage. No smoke test!Thank you.

Santa Just delivered The TJ Rockcrawler to my 7 yr old...I have logged more hrs so far...question/s...are there any other battery packs with more power? New bright advertises a 19.2v...will this work?

"19.2v" NiCd RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACKAGE. comes complete with 4-hour quick charger. Rechargeable up to 1,000 times for ample power and long life performance!

If not, then how do I get more power out of it?

Where is the "high/low gear selector"?

I love it but it could use some more juice!

read 'em...from these threads it sounds as though they are combining two 9.6v's ...I am talking 'bout the one19.2v battery that New Bright advertises and sells...

http://www.newbright.com/nb-consumer/product/index.php?...y&buy=&action=detail

...and as far as I can tell they do not have any vehicles that require a 19.2 volts on their web site.

So, my question still remains: Has anyone tried this 19.2 batt?
