How did you work with aluminium? Did you just glue it and it held fine?

Because even with my cardboard it required lots of patience to hold bits in place till glue dries...with aluminium or lexan its more complicated i guess.

It's a bit complicated to explain ..

I cut the two sides and rear in the same piece of aluminum .. Then the hood .. I gave a little ears to join the two pieces with pop rivet .. I built a small wooden frame which is based on the support of small plastic placed on the side of the frame newbright .. Aluminum is pasted (epoxy) on the small wooden frame, which will sit on small plastic support .. I hope that this helps ..

I was thinking between me an myself about the front spinning wheels and how to improve, keeping stock gearing. Then I thought of trying to give more traction to front wheels. So i got out my tools and cut out more out of my front tyres. Well after some testing i think it really made a bit of difference. Now front wheels still start to spin as before but soon tyre thread grips to something and it moves on while before it used to keep spinning. I'm keeping the rear tyres as they are for now.

Hi guys, i'm finally back with something

i'm just trying something i had in mind for a long time now... i'm doing another landy body like my first one (as seen on pics) but this time on a slightly bigger scale and sitting almost 1 inch lower than the other one i had done. What's new in this one is that this time i used wood to strenghten it with no need for complicated structures to make it rigid. As soon as i put the wood using glue and small nails it was already solid. This body will remain bare with no interior, no extra bits that can break off... i will just paint it, apply decals and have fun with it. Ohh and for this one i with have to use again the blue top shock pieces to limit articulation.

Here is what i managed to do in an afternoon...

sorry no idea hehe...i just was at my hardware store to buy glue, saw it there and an idea clicked LOL. Here we use it to fit insect netting to windows etc etc. and its very light...ideally balsa wood should be used but i didnt bother. Today i almost finished it...just have to create a bonnet...i'll post some pics later on.

cu and thanks for comments

Yeah looks like Poplar to me.. Other then Balsa you can use Basswood (Tilia) Very nice stuff to work with (Carving)

One thing that would be right up your ally (Fits the theme of your bodies)
Is to use Popsicle sticks now places carry them and call them craft sticks. Can also use tung suppressors.
Both of the above are made of white Birch. Very strong wood,, To make it even more stiffer and resist splitting. I use yellow glue and put a drop on my finger, rub my fingers together then pull the sticks through my fingers. Glue will soak into the wood some and coat it. Very hard to split them after that.

Also for scratch building , like you do; some other things I have used is different size tooth picks
and Shish kabab skewers. You can get the skewers in flat or round pretty cheap in different wood species mostly birch and bamboo.

Here is some new update...

as you can see bodywork is kind of complete and i also decided on the colour...PIMP MY RIDE YELLOW hehe LOL. I wanted to give this a fun trialer look so i opted for yellow. I used spray can but one was not enough to cover. Monday i'll get another one and finish it off. Interior, bottom and fittings will come black and as usual i'll apply some decals later on.

here it is
