Managed to get it all muddy and stinky but was worth it. Original battery was hopeless without power in the sticky stuff but the one i had got sometime ago performed quite well. Still a cheap one for now but gave me a bit more power.
Yesterday i made up my mind and cut 3 rings out of original springs. I had been looking for something similar just to keep standards as stock but since i havent found similar softy ones i just went for it... i just couldnt believe the big difference it made. Now car is more riding soft and suspension articulates nicely with no lifting of wheels all the time. I guess next is cutting the chassis but that will definitely take me some time to go for it... not so keen to mess it all up and right now i'm really happy with all the setup. I also noticed that cardboard body i built which was supposed to be lightweight came out to be quite a bit heavier than stock LR3 body. In the meantime i'm going to start building another body from scratch...will be another landy though.
adrian you are very skillfull to make a body like that love your work. a winch on the front would realy set this model of.just a idea.
One day, someone showed me a glass of water that was half full. And he said, "Is it half full or half empty?" So I drank the water. No more problem. ~Alexander Jodorowsky.....
yes i tried to keep it real but still i had to widen a bit the body so it covers part of the wheels at least. My aim on this one is to keep it low and simple so i can trash it around but you know how it goes...i get overcharged and get carried away adding every bit that comes to mind LOL
cardboard is not very thick...i think 1mm. I buy it from my local DIY store. Obviously if it was slightly thicker would be much better but i didnt find any. It becomes rigid when you start adding creases and bends everywhere...especially when all is glued and ready. Then i paint all with pva resin based glue which makes it harder and gives it a plastic feel. The more you add of this the better. Then paint and varnish do the trick afterwards.
I dont know if its water resistant after the treatment... i mean rain or deep wading but mud resistant is for sure... tried and tested LOL. It resists some light crashes as well but bumpers and stuff like that are easy to damage.
Some people have also built bodies out of light plastic similar to Hpi bodies, but that is harder to work with and glue IMO.
