I have a hobby class speed control ready to be hooked up on my NB fj and i was wondering if the 9.6v battery pack will fry my speed control considering it is meant for a 7.2v battery pack. NOT a 9.6v one

ESC is good for a 7cell 8.4 volts.

If you want to use that battery you could check the voltage and Mah, to see what it is actually putting out. Most cheapo bats are just that "Cheap" no telling what it actually has or what your charger can produce. If your going to use that ECS. What other electronics are you thinking about using?

I ran 9.6 dual batteries through an old as the hills futaba ESC with no drama. I know its not specific on the modle but Im at work Smile not in the basement.
the thing you have to watch is when it is running is one thing. When you have a nice 7 inch grippy tire jammed against a rock and you pull the throttle is a different enemy al together for your little ESC, who knows the amps it gonna pull!!

my experience with esc is they will run higher volts than stated but they do get very hot .so unless you are going to mount a fan on the heat sink stick with 8.4 volts as stated .

One day, someone showed me a glass of water that was half full. And he said, "Is it half full or half empty?" So I drank the water. No more problem. ~Alexander Jodorowsky.....
