You know, as much fun as The Rube is with it's 4 drive motors, I still end up stalled somewhere on my course due to it's puny motors.

I plan to do 2 more New Bright mod's, and being an X-Hot Rodder, one of the projects is going to be centered around POWER !!!! hahahah.

How much is too much? I'm going to find out Smile
A racing buddy once told me "You know you have enough motor, when you can't keep up with the drive train repairs" : Big Grin Big Grin

He was my kinda guy ! Smile

The Rube is complete, he cannot withstand more mod's, I just need to keep him in good shape. So I plan to use the new little Rubicon I bought on Ebay.

Have a look at these pictures, this is not the motor I will use, but the physical size is the same.

the motor I have in the picture is a 550 motor (???) same as the motors on my Emaxx.

I am looking at the Integy Matrix Pro Lathe Motor 75T Single. It is a very low RPM and VERY torquey. People use them on their Super Clodbusters and TXT's.

haha, I can hear breaking parts already Smile

They are about $20 us.

I'm sure there is enough power in this little baby to break some New Bright parts. I am already thinking I need some Flapding brass dog bones.

But that's the fun of power, use just as much power as you need ......... and fix the parts you break when you use too much Smile Big Grin

If I were you, I would look around and try to find someone with a c&c machine, and get them to make you a set of billet gears. Those puny little gears are not going to last long at all with that motor... Razz

You guys all bring up good points ! Smile

I agree, the little pastic gears will be one of the first things to go, I have a few spares, but I will have to find some metal ones.

Another thing that was mentioned was the gear axle posts being ripped from their moorings. Good point! That problem will require some thinking. Eek

The entire project is just starting to jell for me.

You asked about the electronics, I think a project of this nature requires an aftermarket radio. This will also allow me to put in a good proportional steering servo as well. Front wheel steer only.

Another benefit on an aftermarket radio is that now you can use decent battery packs Smile

I am going to use the stock suspension, but will modify it with some of your ideas to get better flex.

I would like to find a way to put taller rims and tires on. Not much bigger, 3/4 to an inch ???

I think those New Bright People in China should charter a plane an fly us all to their factory and we can help them improve their crawlers Smile

Then we would have more potential for mod's. Big Grin

Oh, where would it end Smile Big Grin Big Grin !!!
