has anyone tried to see if there is a hobby grade knuckle that will fit the 1/6th scales?

In 1/10th scale I'm looking into what is the most readily available knuckle etc to replace the N/B Nylon junk.

buy knuckle do you mean the dogbone?? if so loulou has upgraded dogbones on yellow crawler but i think flapding made them ,my problem is not so much the dogbone ,but the hexes ,could easy be converted to hobby hexes but then i would need to buy hobby wheels to fit , its all $$$$$$$$$ Frown

NAT .. the dogbones MR FLAPDING 1/10 are made of brass and metal .. No problemo .. perhaps, than 1/6 could be manufactured in the same way ..

Knuckle is the piece the hub goes inside.

This is a steering knuckle.

This is the hub and shaft.

If people want to start searching for one. You have to make sure both pivots are in-line with each-other, steering pivot and drive-line pivot.

This just came to my mind after looking closer at my Rustler. Rustler will not work with out changing the drive line pivot, it will bind the axle joint wile steering. I looked on-line at the revo and they changed / upgraded the revo from the T-max to make the Revo work right.

For the 1/10th scale, I'm still trying to see if HPI makes a knuckle made up like the old rs4 parts but with a bigger slot in the cv joint to except a thicker dog bone. I have rs4 knuckles and they are pretty close but need a thicker slot. I have twisted the dog-bones before and that was with an all carbine fiber chassis and 1.9 wheels LOL. So I'm pretty sure they would not last long under a crawler.

yeah i know what you mean wayne the changes to these models are vast .and crawlers do take a lot of punishment . they need to make parts out of carbide steel lol Big Grin

Loulou ever do any casting?
If you have a stock Hex you can make a mold easy
then use any-metal that does not have a high melting point. Melt the metal into the mold and you will have a duplicate part. Brass/Die-cast/Aluminum. those are 3 of the metals I would be looking into. If I was to cast a part. I have done it for static models. Is not hard to do. Some craft stores might have the products and even a kit to do it. Mostly jewelery making craft/supply places would have the stuff on hand to do it.

That is the best thing I can come up with to duplicate the stock part and not take a chance of destroying the stock parts.

PS: Loulou can you by any chance take a picture of 1/10th and 1/6th scale knuckle and hub assembly side by side? So I can see a size difference?

I just looked up the parts for the HPI MT G3.0 and the knuckle/hub-axle look to be close to my rs4 assembly. They use the same bearings.

HPI MT-2 G3.0 PARTS...

maybe I can see these up close. I'm willing to bet they are the same as my rs4 rally but with longer
axles.. If so might be simplest fix to 1/10th parts..

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=86228&search=Go

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFYT3&P=7

Now if this works I might be-able to kill 2 birds with one stone... Possibly get my rs4 rally up and running with MT2 parts and run 2.2 wheels.

Ill take a picture of my parts in a few.

Thanks loulou, Ill keep that pic saved under a file with your name.
I'm not sure if the MT2 G3.0 will even work for the 1/10 but am going to find out, there is a good possibility it will. Ill look at the savage parts when I get a chance and a few other bigger R/Cs.
If these parts work for the 1/10th but not the 1/6th. There might be something close for the 1/6th.
Maybe one of them big arse Losi`s will work. Think the hobby shop has one. I have to go by there hopefully tomorrow they closed early today and I need a few things.

I'm d/ling my RS4 parts and will put them in another thread so It dose not Hijack this thread.

This might be a part that works on the 1/6
Losi LST2/MUGGY

Operations guide has parts(Page 12) and an exploded view of front parts (Page 14)

someone who has a 1/6th should go to a hobby store and look at it and bring stock part or parts with you. If the hobby shop has the parts on hand.
