Note to you Loulou... If you going to play in mud. You can put the front tires back in their right direction, Like monster trucks have. That direction gives the tires a better clean out of mud.

Reversed is for grip on gravel / rock etc.

Here I can play in the mud / parking alsphat / lawn / land .. but the rock is quite rare ..

I like the performance of this LAND ROVER, but much work (reinforcement / mods etc. ..) are needed to make a decent truck ..

The mods that I have left to do, are ..

Oil shocks
Body reinforcements
Soften tires if possible
Light kit .. etc ..

If I continued to be a crawler =

Flex /
Lowered pinions tooth 10 or 8
Rework tires more
HG would be better
Find more efficient battery ( + Mah)
Lowered the body
New gearing ?

THANK .. WAYNE S .. for your good advice ..

I don't think I have any razer blades handy right now to show people. A cutting jig is easy to make. there are 2 notches (half moons) on a normal razer blade made for screws. You can cut a piece of wood the hight you want to cut at, put two screws in the half moons and into the wood. making a easy exact hight cutting jig.
I use jigs like this all the time at work. Mostly for taping off windows for glazing them. I just put the tape on the glass. and use the jig, for instance, say I wanted a boarder of 1/4 inch showing of glass. I use my 1/4inch jig to cut the tape back 1/4 inch showing 1/4 inch of the glass to be glazzed.

You can do the same method for cutting down the knobs of your tires. Since they are vinyl or silicone based. You can heat the knobs up with a hair dryer to make them soft and the jig with the blade will cut through the knobs like butter.

what is the hight of the tread now? Since your using it for all types of things (Trail type rig)

If you want to play in the mud etc. Cutting slots might hurt their ability of cleaning out.
Mud etc would get clogged up in the slots which would not be productive.

I would say maybe just cut the tread shorter.
so It's not acting to much of bracing across the tire.
You might not have to do anything to them though.
I heard of people boiling tires to get them more pliable, but have not done to much research on the matter. Maybe you can research, other r/c sights about boiling tires. Might find an easy way to keep the tread hight the way it is now.

One thing to keep in mind Loulou, is the trick with Dawn soap for them days when you want tacky tires
for playing around rocks Big Grin

Here I guess copy these tires. They are the tires most use for all around driving.

I just cant tell if they are 2/3rds cut so still have clean out or 1/2 the depth. If you cut all the way through you might loose the possibility of the tires able to clean their selfs. If you understand what I'm saying.

Yes copy masher 2000

Couper les encoches / créneaux peut-être la moitié de la profondeur de l'altitude de la bande de roulement.

When I build my 6 door f-650 I would love to put these on it.

http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=36&products_id=686
then cut them up to make them look like real super swamper boggers.

Here is a vid they seem like a real crazy tire in all terrain.

I just ordered a set of super swamp boggers but much smaller. 44inches in 1/24th scale.
They are going on a 1/28th scale crawler Smile.
The project truck their going on is an xmods Titan. When I get deeper into the build will make a thread in the other r/c forum were my desert truck is Big Grin
It is going to be a scale crawler. allot of stuff already thought out but need tires for final hight/Dimensions etc.

Loulou when you get stuck. What is it? The front bumper that stops you? Or is it the bottom of the axles?

WAYNE S .. this is really stupid bumper .. it is still clinging to anything he touches .. is the problem .. I'll buy a NAT-JEEP 1 / 6, and make it a crawler (((No bumper on a crawler ))) .. but I must wait a little ..

Not sure how Im going with things. 1/10 axles look better with a 1/8 body, with a wheel base of about 14 to 14 1/2 inches.

1/10 scale bodies look better with 1/18th and the 1/12th scale wheely king axles.

So really they would be a mix breed of scale.

I have a few builds on my to do list. If I built a true crawler it would not be a 12.5 wheel base(1/10th scale), Well in my mind right now anyway.

Right now in my mind a 1/10th scale body looks better with 1.9 wheels. trail type rig.

I'm thinking of making my newcane a 14.5 wheel base and putting my 1/8th scale f-650 crew-cab body on it.

In my mind building a low crawler like you like. I would build a rock racer. Tube chassis type like these.
