NAT .. has several ideas on this subject, and we tried to settle this problem ....

#############################################

Today, I buy a few hex (1/4-20)....

They are the same size as the stock hex plastic ..

I placed a stud inside this hex metal .. for the moment ...........

Tried to find a solution to these fragile plastic hex of 1/6 .............

###############################################

These are just ideas, for the moment ..

On the rock, the rims will be very hard life .. we must be prepared .. the center of the rim, does not broke .. especially if the gearing of the JEEP 1/6 is stronger (adition of a fourth gear?)

What can be done ?

.............................................

/ welding two metal hex on the shaft of the diff ? or ............

/ find hex longest and soldering also on the shaft ? ..............

/ for inserted on the shaft, it will enlarge the centre (drilled) somewhat ? .......

..NAT .. come to my rescues ..

.....HELP.. HELP .. HELP ME :-)

These LAND ROVER, ... have HUGE tires ..

h loulou i glad to see you found a metal hex suitable for this .i myself could not find these in my home town hardwear store .i came up with the idea to make my own hexes from a hex wrench and to drill a hole through the centre .simple idea just to cut a small portion of the hex wrench and drill a hole through the centre .i have another idea for installation .i will post pics tonight .

One day, someone showed me a glass of water that was half full. And he said, "Is it half full or half empty?" So I drank the water. No more problem. ~Alexander Jodorowsky.....

ok guys the main problem with these hexes is that after a while the wheel starts to slip this is due to the soft plastic hex my idea is to use a steel hex as loulou has shown and use a strong glue to bond it to the drive shaft .or you could drill the drive shaft and hex and insert a pin .as in hobby wheels the main problem that stops this from being possible is that the 1/6 hex is inserted from the front of the wheel and not the back like hobby wheels .here is a solution for this .the back of the wheel needs to be ground away were the centre of the hex is this exposes the hex opening so that the hex can be inserted from the rear this allows the hex to be glued to the drive shaft .thus allowing the wheel to slip on and of much like a hobby wheel .but in order to do this you must cap of the front of the wheel .i used a metal washer and glued it in the centre of the wheel this stops the wheel from sliding back and forth .and you can then put your wheel nut on to lock the rimm in place .these pics should explain more for demonstration purposes i have used the original plastic hex but metal would be better .thanks .

the rear wheels on the 1/6 are slightly different they have a sort of stand of but the same method can be used except instead of a washer to cap the front of you will need to use a old hex to glue in place as rear wheel has a recess in the centre .thanks guys Big Grin

THANK .. NAT .. for all this work ..

Your system is the best way forward ..

And your key hex are a very good idea, if you do not find Hex metal 1/4-20 ..

I will follow your method ..

But I will try to insert the hex of metal on the stock shaft .. I will enlarge the hole in this hex, then, do so slipped on the shaft, and secured with a metal pin .. on the four stock shaft ..

For the rear wheels , as you called NAT, installation differs somewhat .. I will perhaps insert two metal hex shaft on the rear with a threaded stud at the tip .. to secure the rim .. and reworked the interior of the rim ..

PS ......................
if you have any pics of work backwards, I purchased :-)

I still have to study it ..

NAT .. I took my time .. I begin to age ..
