has nay one tried to mod one of these yet?

http://www.amazon.com/NIKKO-Toyota-Cruiser-Turbo-Truck/dp/B000RI7KKI

My friend has one, the are pretty compatable and the do have some power. Even though they are 2wd i think they do still have some ability. Either way its always fun to mod rc toys.

wow!! them suckers went up in price.

Before when I only bought tamiya hobby grades and tinkered with toy grades.. Nikko was the only toy brand I would buy.

Yea i know... according to rcmania (rcmania.com) they trimmed all the weight off the chassis so its lighter now so it goes faster (i think)

I still wonder if they are modifiable

I do not see the 1/10 scale listed on their site now.. Only see the 1/18th scale,, just for a heads up.. Have not been to Toys-R-Us in a wile so not sure how many they have or different color price tag on shelves showing that it is no longer being produced. Now I do recall seeing a ton of the 1/18th scales there.

Knew about the 2wd Was talking about a 4wd but now can not find it.. Might of been under another name and not Nikko.. I thought Nikko and NB were only 2 who made one..

O yeah NB makes a 2wd fj not sure how that would stack up 2wd vs 2wd with all power to only 1 motor.

it might be fast and powerful but seeing that clip of it trying to crawl over a small rock made me laugh... it has zero articulation...its much more toy than our NBs... When i was looking to buy my NB my local store had them as well and i'm glad i chose the NB... actually when i saw it in the shop i thought it was just a little kid's toy so i went for the beefier looking NB LR3. Dont know...it might be good to break apart for project maybe.

I guess they all have there places in our hobby

I agree that the NB 4wd is a better platform.

I do agree with adrian and wayne. The NB does have a better platform fro rock crawling, if only the axles had stronger or larger motors it would be much better.
However i think the you could propably convert the Nikko into a 4link for better articulation (rear only)

You get what you pay for thats for sure specaily with the price of the NB. Bobies alone for their scale is worth the money. A decent looking lexon is going to cost you over 30$ after paint. And still does not have the look or tuffness. If some one bought a NB jut to see if they like the sport bought is and used it for a few months.. then decided they liked rock crawling and then bought 300$ or so in a hobby grade crawler. Then
imo the nb did its job.. It's called progression of the hobby.

When It comes to R/C hobbies cars / trucks in a way with toy grades gets people into the hobbie cheap..

I had to spend over 1000 grand on airplanes before I could even remotely fly anything I could be proud to own or build.

First high wing trainer was 500 after all field gear. And that was not even knowing if could do it..
Look at helis, they will chew your money right up and not think twice about it lol.

Part that was not cheap in r/c to see if you liked it with trucks was stadium trucks. Now hotwheels and a few make cheap ones.

My story behind my NB is.. I got sick of the down time with my other r/c hobby stuff. I was surfing the web and always recalled this new thing called crawling. Found the NB for cheap.
Said heck with it. Bought that instead of buying
parts to fix my heli after a 80ft drop from a bad blade. So it was either spend 50 bucks on heli parts or see if this crawler deal would spark my interest in the hobby. I new the nb was not the end all and was just a stepping stone. But if I did not enjoy the crawling part of the sport . I was only out 42$ if I recall right.

I knew if I like crawling I would infest into a
crawler with clod axles. Which I started collecting parts for a wile ago. now the nb has got me back into this part of the hobby and a few other aspects of it. I own 9 r/c trucks and cars now. Mainly Micros 1/43rd to 1/24th scale.
With 3 1/10th scales and a few Im building.

So that 42$ NB investment went along way and the gears, motor size had nothing to do with it.

That would be the logical thing to do. If that day comes do research your options and pick the one that fits your style of interest in terrain and seams to have the bigger upgrade companies behind them so you know parts will be around for years to come if you expect to have it for a good period of time.
