I opened up an RC tank that stopped working, and found a stripped gear to be the problem. It used two of these Mabuchi 370SD's. I looked thru the Mabuchi website, and the 370SD most closely matched the size/configuration of these motors.
Do you think it will fry the NB ESC? I'm not sure I could use the tank ESC in the NB, but it might be possible. It was kind of a weird tank. It would go forward and clockwise. Instead of going reverse or CCW, a second set of drive wheels would drop down and you could move directly leftwards. I'm not sure the ESC would work properly in the NB.
If it doesn't work, at least I've got quite a few gears to possibly use.

They will fit but it'll most certainly also fry the NB stock electronics. There are several different variations of the 370 and somehow Tex hit that 1% chance and found one that he could run successfully. It may be this one or it may not be..I'm not sure.

How much are we talking to upgrade the stock NB electronics to handle a hot 280 or 370?

Nielsen roughly $100 give or take..if you're patient you can find some fantastic deals on Ebay and piece meal it all together for not very much.
Marmech so far it seems like the 370s are speed kings..however, the Speed 300 I've read somewhere is timing adjustable...so theoretically we could slow it down and build up the torque sweet spot.
Nielsen if you want I'll do some checking around for you on some deals.
The Speed 280s and 370s are the same size. There are 280s made with gear boxes built in on to them..I think I've seem them on Hobby-Lobby's website..I'm sure they'd make crazy torque but we'd have to figure out how to accomodate them in the motor well with the added length.
