hi iceman it is possible to weld thin sheet plate with a ark welder welding rods such as size 1.5 can be used but very difficult due to the alternating current produced buy this type of welder.also your much more likely to burn holes in the metal .mig is much easyer to use and has much more controll. hope this helps.
