dremel with dril bit or dremel with cut-off wheel. Use the drill bit to drill a hole, then saw back and forth with the bit spinning, cuts it great. Cut off wheel gives a much more finished look, so use that for body trimming when you get there
Remove the body and springs to gain better access. You can/must cut some if the chassis from above so the body will need to be off. Be careful not to cut the axle guide arms and for sure don't cut the wire to the axle motor
thanks, i can't find my dremel tool(just finished moving). so i'm going with a drill and a bit. If i cut this plastic out on the axle plate and whats under it? will i see results before using 2 spring and cutting it?
As a stinky, but effective solution, I used a pencil torch and a snap-off knife. Heat the blade for a couple seconds, make a nice controlled, fast cut. The boogers can be cleaned up later. Make sure you have adequate ventilation. Used a similar knife for the body mods, but without the heat. The body plastic's fairly thin so only a few passes were needed with the knife.
I cut the axle plate while still mounted (articulate the axle upward on the side your cutting), but you can remove it and cut it on your bench if you prefer.
i just cut out the 2 pieces under the axle plate(for up and down movement). now i need to cut where it hits on close to the battery(for forward movement)??
all i used was an exacto knife and some good old elbow grease. i cut out the axle plates and made more room on the body so the axles have more articulation. it only took my about an hour and a half to do. all you need is a steady hand. and it looks real clean no jagged edges and ****. ill post some pics soon.
I had that problem before I painted mine slipped with the dremel I used marine putty you can smooth it out with no need for sanding and it sticks to anything.
