Jacob S .. THANK for the video ..
If I build my LAND ROVER into a crawler as yours, I would have also locked the front diff .. I just locked the rear.
If I change my mind, it will be locked.

j33p3r ..
This mod is very easy to do .. we must take the right measures, and buy small bolt and nut, to solidify these extensions ..

Nice vids,, I think the oil shocks will do very well on it.. You can tell it is very bouncy in the vids. I'm sure the oil shocks will be a big improvement.

Looks like it rips along pretty good. How long of a run do you get on the dual battery system?

I know those things are huge but what is the height of the tires on them? Do they use a 2.2 rim?

looks like allot of fun!!!!! Smile

How hard are the tires? Wander if drilling holes in rims will help out some. Or maybe for heck of it,, try taking one of the springs off the the shocks. One from each side. just to see what happens.

Loulou. reverse the front tires. You should get better traction with the monster truck type flotation tires that way.

------------------------------------------------

Pulling off one spring per side does not cost or alter anything you cant put back to stock. Just takes time. If it does not work, you can put the springs back on.

I have already changed springs 1 / 6 for softer 1 / 10 shocks RUBICON

I will do another test tomorrow ..

For now doing testing. I would do things that are not permanent. Meaning you can go back to your original setup if the test is not effective.

Since you have 2 different springs, You can do multiple test. Say one time try the stock spring. Then try the 1/10 spring. Then maybe try both springs and see if they interact better with each-other. 2 springs on each side. One spring 1/10th other 1/6. They might interact better, who knows?

-----------------------------------------------

Looking at your terrain if you are going to keep the Rover as a basher. climbing the gravel piles etc. Locking the front diff might not be so bad.
Since you can get both wheels to spin. Problem with locked differentials (Spools). Become a problem when you are not getting the wheels to spin. Turning a corner with a spool,The inside wheel makes less rotations then the outside wheel.

Now in a 1:1 vehicle with a spool in a sharp turn you will drag the wheel in a sharp corner.
You have 2 options in this circumstance. #1.. take the corner wider. #2 blimp the throttle to spin the tires. If both wheels loose traction and are spinning, they are spinning at the same revolutions.
----------------------------------

Now is there a way to check if locking the front diff is ok with the terrain you are using your R/C mostly on.

Yes there is a way that if you do not like it and can not live with it, you can go back to stock.
You can lock your front diff, with hot clue to try it. If you do not like it locked. You can pick the hot glue out of the diff, and go back to stock. Now if you are ok with the diff locked, you can pick out the hot glue and use your epoxy etc. to make it permanent.

Loulou.........If that is the terrain you are going to be driving in I realy see no issue with the front diff being locks. Turning the front wheels around and doing a test with hot-glued front diff
should get you over them mounds of gravel. Looks like it is loose enough to spin the tires and gain traction with the front wheels turn around. On them mounds the unlocked diff is hurting you.
My opinion on watching your vids is, since you have an unlocked front diff you are backing off and
running at the mounds with more speed.

If I was you. I would turn the front wheels around and hot-glue the front diff, to see if I could live with it. It's one of them times when you have the weigh the goods with the bads.
Understand?

The spring deal we can chat about more when you have vids to show what is going on.
I have 2 thoughts. Either it is the springs or it can be the tires giving the bounce effect.
Knowing it is the tires will show, when you have done the testing with the springs.

Now I have a feeling it might be the tires. My thoughts are the flotation type tires knobs are to ridged, acting like Bracing across the tire. I do not want to come to this conclusion till all test are done. Now there is a simple fix to this, If this is the actual problem. !!!But!!! It would be a permanent fix. So my opinion is this should be left as a last resort. If this is the problem. I can show away to cut them down and get all the knobs to be even.
