Alright guys I have a powertrax no-slip up front in my dana 30. I just changed out the shafts for tj shafts withthe 297 u-joint, but now I have serious problems on the road. The steering will lock up and then jerk around turns, so badly that I havent been able to drive it on the street. I heard that getting rid of the vacum system might change the street capability, but this is more than i was led to believe and honestly I think that there might be something else going on with maybe the locker. What do ya'll think.

Sounds like manual hubs are in your near future.

Well I was thinking that also, but before I had these shafts in the steering wasnt locking up in 4 wheel drive, now if I am at a stand still in 2 wheel drive its almost impossible to get the tires to turn.

well assumeing you put everyting together correctly you either have a really good locker or it's broke, it sounds like it's not letting go in the turn like it should jack up the front and do the locker test that's in the manual to see if it's still working right.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!!

i just jack it up and spin the tires back and forth right. I actually broke my stock shafts I had before i changed to these tj shafts and thats when it all went south so maybe the locker went to when the shafts went.

You definately have a problem. You should not notice the locker up front with TJ shafts. Time to take it apart, check out your R&P too, that may actually be your problem.

You might have a part of the old shaft binding in your locker. Pull the cover and coat everything in break cleaner. Use air to blow out the locker. It would be best to pull the locker and inspect.
