I have a delema. I presently have the TSL/SX 32x11.5, which I find awsome. I am going to change my gears to 4.88 and put super shafts in my axles. Now I don't know which tires to put on? The TSL/SX 35x15.5 or theTrxus 35x12.5? The SX have wider thread spacing and deeper lugs. I also know that a wider tire is harder on the wheel bearings, but I do about 400 miles a year max. I go over mountains, boulders, cross shallow rivers etc. go through atv trails, tundra, marsh etc. I have a locker and True trac. So now how to choose.??

I don't think I'd want to run that wide/heavy of a tire (15.5 SX) on stock axles even with alloys in them.

I'd probably run a narrower SX or the Trxus, doesn't seem like you are going to see much road time, so the radial trxus might not have much advantage.

36x13.5 bias Irok might also work well in those conditions.

I was also looking at the Irok's but I only have a 4.5" lift and I was told that 35's were the max I could put on my set-up. The SX's are wide and heavy, that's why I'm going to 4.88 gears and 35% stronger shafts. Either in the Yukon, Superior, or AlloyUSA. Still have to check them out though.

35x15 and 36x13.5 will likely rub about the same depending on the wheels used. you're probably good for a normal 35x12.5 radial withough rubbing right now. Maybe a little bigger.

Hi Jason

My options are really limited. I was looking at the trXus 35x12.5 or 34x12.5, but have been used to the SX's which are a lot more aggressive, but they are all wide Which sucks. I'm wondering if the Trxus could handle the terrain that I'm going through??

To tell you the truth i have run both tires at the same sizes your asking on my 98" grand cherokee with same axle shafts your going to get. i wheel Hard and would definitly go with the tsl sx way before the trxus. but i would say if you do go for the tsl sx for sure go for the slightly bigger irox!

Good luck

Okay after posting in 5 different forums talking with four different off-road stores and with Yukon Gear 95% of everybody says to go for the TSL/SX 35x15.5 and the only super kit that will fit my present set-up is from Yukon which will be their front and rear super axle shafts with 4.88 gears.
OH I am so anxious, but one thing at a time:
1-Wilderness rear bumper with tire carrier etc.
2-Yukon gears and Super shafts
3-Tires and new rims with 4" backspace.

I am not telling my wife.
Just one piece at a time
This will all start happening between this automn and next year. Now I have to find a buyer for my present tires and rims.

I was just introduced to another thought and would like yours on it. Would an SX 36x12.50 have less strain on my set-up than an SX 35x15.50?

I've been really attracted to the Irok 36x13.50-15LT, but wonder what their true height is.

I was just introduced to those Q78's look very interesting and the thread is very deep 27/32 WOW!
Lots of food for thought. I just talked to a store mechanic and he also thinks they would be a perfect match for my set-up and what I do. HUM.

I've got 2 of those sitting here at the shop.

27/32 is DEEP. 35.5x10.8. If they don't sell shortly I'm mounting them up to my TJ.

I would think in the snow you'd see up there that size would work better.

Jason

I do a bit of off-road in the winter, but you can only do so much here, so it's mostly in the summer.

on mine I've also considered the Q78s, but most people comment on them not having enough lateral stability (too skinny) ...

if you only have 4.5 inches of lift and wanna bias iroks run the 37/12 or 14 because its 36.5 inches tall the 36 is 36.8 but the radial measure out tv ran a 36/12.50 tsl witch is 36.3 and loved it
