Has anyone installed a new windsheild on their 95 (or any) Jeep Wrangler? If so, how hard is it and are there any tricks I should know about? I have purchased the 3 gaskets and sealer and just want to know if there is anything I should know before I begin.

well there shouldn't be any gaskets....only and inner garnish moulding and an outer moulding. if done incorrectly the glass will fall out later on if all steps are followed it's fairly simple. to explain in writing takes a while so for a short version: take out the old glass, clean the pinchweld of all old glue (unless your a hack lol) clean pinchweld. prime with a pinchweld primer specificly designed for use with the brand of urethane your using (do not use butly) let sit for 10 minutes min. clean glass, apply moulding (assuming your using a newer lips on the egde of the glass style) reclean, primer (again a compatible one). let sit 10 minutes. run urethane on windshield or vehicle (techs will agrue which is best but both work well if done properly). use tape to hold in position while the ure hardens. curing of ure can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 8 hr's depending upon product. proper primers and being clean are essential. but it's fairly easy to fix a leak if you mess up and not a structural part of the vehicle (in this case).
vermont is not in canada !!! |
