any recommendations how i should approach the work!

Last time I tried this on an older YJ, both TRE's had rusted themselves to the rod, and we couldn't get them off even with large hammers and wrenches. Soak a few days with PB Blast or something similar, the adjusters also.
Easiest way to get the TRE out of the knuckle is to hit the knuckle at a 90* angle to the shaft of the TRE with a big *** hammer. Hitting the stud of the TRE will only tighten it in the hole, and a pickle fork drives it at an angle and makes it harder to remove. Here's a pic to show what I mean...
