Well i picked up my running 79 waggy today for 50 bucks.
I havent cut it open yet but its got the auto lock sytem to engauge 4wheeldrive. can i put standard lock outs on the front axle to ditch that system anyone know of a good webpage with a detailed walkthrough of building a SOA with waggy axles (guess axles dont matter)
Just to give me a guide Thanks

Will the power steering work on my 93?

I put warn premium lockouts on my waggy 44 front, took about 15 minutes. Make sure you have a hub socket and some snap ring pliers. They were really good, and were easy to install.

The width is as close to perfect as you canget with a junky yard axle. Right at 59.5-60", so it should go right under a TJ.

My uncle just picked up a waggy 44 for free too, they can be found CHEAP!

what t-case you gonna run? in 79 they still had passenger side drop front axles, and if is equiped with quadratrac (full time 4wd) then the rear diff will also be off set to the passenger side too. not good for a YJ that has a already short rear driveshaft, the compund angle might kill the driveshaft. Best swap would be from a 86-91 wag as they have drivers drop front and centered rear. The 80-86 will also work, but they have a amc m-20 rear instead of the d-44, some dont like that axle, but the one in the wags is better and stronger than the CJ versions.
79 and older wags--passenger drop axles
80-86---drivers drop d-44 front, centered amc m-20 rear
86-91---drivers drop d-44 fron and centered d-44 rear

86 was the changeover year, some will have m-20's some will have d-44's

Hope this helps a little
