I have an 89' wrangler that I just did an engine swap in. I put a 91' 4.0 HO with 91' wire harness for engine & interior (from working jeeps). My problem is everything is in &it will not start. I have a new battery, alternator, starter & ignition switch, all fuses & solenoids are good. I have power to the stater & alternator, if you turn the key on the fuel pump comes on & interior lights work but it will not start no clicking nothing. I can turn the engine over by jumping the starter with a screwdriver but I'm not getting power to my coil either so it will not run. Anything will help.

I've had the same problem before, get a push button ignition and wire it straight to the starter. Its pretty simple, thats how i got mine to work, just ran the wiring into my cab.

Go to the tech section here. Cole did a write up on the swap. He said there were only a few wires to splice into from the original 4 banger harness. Sounds like you might have got one out of place somehow. If nothing else, give Cole a PM and see if he can point you in hte right direction.

what about the actual ignition switch, not the key part, but the part that mounts to the lower part of the steering collumn. You think they might be diffrent? You said yours is a 89 and the wireing harness is a 91, dont know if they changed it when they went to fuel injection or not.
