well i have been talking to a guy about his 91 yj for sale, he is asking $8500 and i told him i was thinking i could give him $6500. and were also talking about me wiring his house as a trade to bring the price lower. it has a few imperfections
like the hood has a small crease and the hard top full door has about a two in. or so dent in it but
other than that the paint is fine. the crome rims are a little rusty and the driver side rear
of the hard top has a chunk missing down by the
body. the right rear leaf spring looks alittle tweaked. it does have a spring over lift on it and has 35's. it has the 4.0 liter, lockers, 4.56's, five speed,and cv drive shaft... anyway is there any goods or bads with the 91 yj wrangler? befor i buy!!! OR.....do you think its a good, fair deal?

91 is actully the first of the good years. But I think $6500 is kinda steep...you can find 97 TJ's going for about that much. I paid $6000 for my 93 YJ about 4 years ago.

well if $6500 is to much then how much is reasonable?

Not really sure, hell if its in perfect shape then maybe its worth the $6500..it really depends on what kind of condition its in. I would say the adverage YJ would run you about $5500-$6000 ifs its in ok condition.

Any clue on what kind of axles or lockers it has? Seems like it has some fair amount of work done to it. The rear leafs are and easy fix, and if it still has the stock leafs then it will be cheap too. Take some CLR to the wheels and they will shine like new.

How's the motor run? miles? any blow-by? leaks? (all 4.0L's leak from the valve cover gasket for some reasion...and the oil filler cap)

If he was asking $8500 and you already have him down to $6500 I dont think he will go much lower.

35" tires a $500-1000. SYE and CV shaft $500. Lockers $200-800 each. Is the axel a stock D35, if so you will most likely break it if you do anything hard core. Take those values, and depreciate them. How many miles on it? A used YJ can be from $3500-6000 depending on condition in stock form. Add these up and that should give you a rough value.

well the hood and the door have a prety big dent in them. the hard top is missing a chunk out of it and the driver seat is torn that has to bring it down some...right? the motor has about 85,000. its his 7th jeep he has fixed up so im prety sure if he has a locker in the rear and 456 gears that he would have had to put tougher axles in it wouldn't ya think. i could be wrong becouse the project was stopped becouse of the house project, he might not have got to that anyway i have been thinking lots about it and iam going to look at some other jeeps first.

well about the ? on the stock axles. they are stock. his reason for that is "if they dont break with what ever jeepen you do then you just saved some money." "if its not broke don't fix it."

Thats a good thing to quote to live by but not when you have a Dana35 with 35" tires on it.
