I am in the process of installing a 14bolt in my YJ with a disk conversion. Should I mount the caliper in front of or behind the axle?? Is there a reason for the location?? I noticed that alot of performance vehicles (viper/Vette/etc.) have the rear calipers mounted in front of the axle. Is this location for speed only? Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Think about what you are doing with your Jeep. Put the caliper in the most protected area so it does not get damaged by rocks or mud.

I dont think you can put it in front because they only work one way. The bleeder screw must face up, if it dont you will not be able to bleed it.

That is true I had no choice on my D60 where the caliper went. I assumed because he asked the question the 14 bolt might be different.

yes you can put it on the front. The left caliper goes on the right and visa versa and the brackets are then rotated 1 hole towards the front.

Anyway, I mounted them towards the rear.

I would mount them wherever they are highest. If you need to, just do what bandittj said, and swap pass and driver calipers so the bleeder is at the top.

I have a 14bolt on my TJ with a disc brake conversion and I have the Calipers located in the upper rear location. It would be very difficult for a rock to get it in this location. I used the mounting brackets from Shakerbuilt.
