I started to remove the FLUSH mount Torx bolts so I could relocate the mirror on the windshield post, so the doors can be taken off. Stripped the 1st one, and and broke the torx bolt tool on the second one. Why are they so **** tight? and what do I do now. I already have the relocation brackets, and am wondering what to do next.

Doug,
I know your pain all to well. The very first thing to do is wd-40 the hell out of the torx! Then spend the money and buy a hand impact and a really good set of bits, not the $15 set at the local store. I like my hardened snap-on but they are like $200, just spend like $25 on the bit you need and it should be strong enough. Use the hand impact and that usally works. A tip is too really look and keep the torx bit square. Many times I will take a center punch and frimly hit the center to try and losen the bolt. As for the broken torx, get out the drill. I use a 1/8 inch drill and slowly drill all the way through, then slowly move up and just retap the hole. The blots go in to a plate that is able to move around inside so it can line up and when thightened sandwichs the frame. What happens is like all jeep windshields thay leak and rust has formed. If all else fails a small amout of heat sometime works to. If you dont want to try any of these a trip to your local Auto or body shop should be able to get them out and repaired. BUT rember to use a tappered bolt to replace them as that is the key to the stregth of that hinge.
