I read an earlier thread regarding swapping an AX15 for an automatic, but it didn't answer all my questions.
Has anyone put a TH350 in a Wrangler with 4.2 liter 6 cyl? Pricewise for new, it's about the same (after buying adapters) as a new 999. I've installed a chevy TBI so I don't have the stock "computer" anymore if that even matters. The downside for the TH350 is the extra length due to adapters. Is there a downside for the 999 other than it being a 3 speed without overdrive? The 350 has an overdrive does it not? Thanks David Ingebretsen, M.S., M.E. I thought the TH350 and TH400s were both 3spd autos also. The TF999 works well, only drawback is that its a 3spd and the stock vent hole is likely to take in water in deep crossings. This can be fixed.
The 700r4 is the GM 4 spd auto. There is a link on the http://www.rockcrawler.com tech section for a swap of this into a YJ. The Jeep 4spd that is commonly swapped is the AW-4. Its computer controlled, but that isn't that bad to work with. Jason 1997 TJ 4.0L AW4 D44/Super 8.8 35x12.5 KM2, Onboard Air Gen II AiRock/Longarms PRR Inc, Because rocks can't drive |
