Question:
Hi guys.

I'm planning to get tube fenders (either from spydercustoms, metalfusion, smittybilt, or ultimate).

Do they really work?

Which brand do think is the best?

Choices:
Yes they work. Spydercustoms is good

What do you mean by "work" ?

They are just a fender...YES they are stronger, not they do not give you any more clearance than a TJ flare. I wouldent have tube fenders on my Jeep if I dident crush my old ones.... not to mention they were rusted.

DangerMan, I do not have the tools to do this. I saw in 4wd.com that the fenders need no fender cutting needed. It seems that Smittybilt Rock Crawler Fenders already have the skirt(?!) If this is correct, HOW CONVENIENT!

Renegade, what I meant by 'do they really work' is are they really "tough"? (anyway, you answered my question).

I have a YJ, can a TJ fender (more clearance) fit my YJ?

What brand did of Tube Fender did you get?

a TJ tuber fender and YJ tube fender offer the same amount of clearance. Also a TJ fender wont work on a YJ.

I have Rev1 fenders:

You can easily make some just may not want to make them like mine. I did mine to cover the tires and keep down the mud and water on my mirrors and windows. So far they have held up.

94 Red YJ, 4.5" RE extreme duty lift, ARB lockers front and rear, ford 8.8 rear axle. OB Fab rollbar, 35" swampers in the front, 35" boggers in the back, warn winch, SYE and Tom Woods drive shaft.

Renegade,Upnover, jeepweezer, did all of you guys cut your the whole upper plate of the fender and retained the wheelwell only? or did you retain a small portion of the upper plate(just like how Poison Spyder described).

jeepweezer, that's really a biggie! aren't you having difficulty in the curves or tight turns?

Mine (Rev1's) are a full replacement fender. Just un-bolt your new one and bolt on the Rev1's.

Jeepweezer when the flight taking off? Big Grin They look like they function really well. Do you have any problems in tight spots or do they extend past the tire.

I just received a set from Poison Spyder w/ the flare. Very heavy & strong - nice welds too. I'm very happy. I haven't had a chance to install yet, but looks to be fairly straight forward.
