I just bought a 1985 FJ60 with a tired motor and trans without 2nd gear.
I have a 95 5.0 Cobra motor sitting in my garage for the last 2 years and thinking about dropping it into my newly found 'Cruiser. Good idea or bad idea? Also ... I have an auto trans from an 86 4runner that I was thinking about mating to it! I also bought this 86F350 as a donor truck because I want to jam the axles under the new 'Cruiser!! HP Dana 60 in the front and 10.25 in the rear. Is this a good idea and worth the time or should I jsut slap a new 4-spd and some 33's with a shackle flip under my ride and go "off-roading"???? Thanks all !!! 85Landabuser!! |

I would do the motor and axles but not the trans. Find a c4 and 205 to use behind the 5.0.
Later ------------------------------ Famous Last Words "Hey watch this." or "Don't you worry about that." Honda Civic daily driver w/ those litle tires and big wheels and "Fart pipe exhaust" "Eat Salmon the other Pink meat." |

sounds like some thing i'd do in 83 fj 60, save for the tranny. drop in a c4 or an NV3500 or NV4500 tranny

302 - NP435 - NP205 - 1 ton axles - all stuffed under the classy FJ60 body would be a great rig. Just don't forget to bob the tail about a foot...
