OK, here ya go, from Car Spy Shots:

Not perfect IMO, but I like it OK. I read that the Rubi edition will come standard with 33" rubber. Big Grin

i think that it looks GREAT. i dont care for the hard top to much though. looks like the rear corners of the body are much tighter and not as rounded as before. i like the interior, but not the steering wheel. nice to have larger speakers integrated into the dash like that. its picked up about 15 hp and the V6 should afford better fuel economy. nice to have standard 32 inch tires.
it will have electronic sway bar disco's up front which would save money on wet-wipes. you get a much larger windshield, and finally i like the fact that the hard top is sectional. it breaks apart into 3 pieces making installation, removal, and storage MUCH easier.

i dont care for the door entry design, although i could get used to it and i HATE the front flares, although if you notice the fenders are cut MUCH higher, making flat fenders VERY easy to do. i hate the exhaust location in the rear, underneath the bumper. that will be 1 thing that EVERY offroader will be changing..

all and all this jeep is looking pretty pimp. now wheres the Hemi V8?

Saw one in Marquette, Michigan today! Heavily covered in those black velcro covers. It was on the otherside of the highway going into Marquette from Harvey at about 17:00 today. It was in heavy traffic and we were gawking so hard that we never got a chance to snap a pic Frown
No big deal, it would be just another pic coverd with heavy black cr@p.

I like it, the front bumper could use some changing. The front flares/fender things I dont like much, but it looks like it you were to remove them it might look kinda cool. Its heavy, needs a V8. I also like that 4.10's are now an option with a all models (at least thats my impression). They are going to look good once when built up right. Hopefully it drops the used car value of a 03-06 Rubicon (girlfriend is looking to buy one)

Well I kinda like it. I'm guessing since the doors are reinforced, a half door won't be available? Frown At least that's what I assume, I hope I'm wrong.

Well for the most part its a good looking ride not a huge change or something compeletly different like square headlights reading on it there seems to be a lot of good things built into it like elbow space and storage.however one thing I do notice right off the bat. where are the hinges for the windsheild to for down? thats a big thing for some of us..

time will tell how worthy it will be I am beating it wont be to long and someone will have the V-6 ripped out and stripped to a frame and doing a big block dana 60's transplant with coil over's. but all in all with out touching it and tasting it along with beating it on a demo course some where I will give it a grade of C+ until it proves its still worthy of the jeep name.

let see what they got!

My thoughts on the specs:

Body:
I dig the shape and top. A modular top has been a long time coming and will allow a lot more hard top owners to go topless. Finding a space to stash the current hard tops has been an issue for many.

The full flared front fenders might work out well. I see so many banged up TJ fenders that a little flex there might not hurt.

Drivetrain:
Sad to see the D35 coming back with longer tubes. That plus a heavier Jeep may mean even more problems offroad with that axle.

Gearing:
I'm really wondering if 4.10s + .69 od of the 42RLE and that 3.8 is going to be enough to really motivate the Rubi. It should probably have a 4.56 option for the Sahara and Rubi auto models. Not that its really any worse that the 2006 rubi gearing.

Overall:
I dig the looks and the updated drivetrain. I think I'll need one for the shop to start some R&D on, when are they taking orders Smile

Looks like it will accept 37s nicely also.

Look closely at the third picture. It is hinged.

I love it (except the bumper)! They've still got me. Smile Smile Rockcrawler Smile Smile

I happened upon one in Vail Village the 1st week in Nov. Unfortunately I can confirm that the particular model I saw did not sport 33's nor did it have a hemi as some of the rumors suggest might be coming. If the new Rubi is available with 33's I wonder if they will keep the 4.11's or go with 4.33's or 4.56's?

$5 says the bolt pattern is 5 on 5. Any takers?

mikel, Mike has the specs posted on the other post in this sections. Gearing options are 3.22 and 4.10 on almost all models.

Well, I guess my question has been answered. The 07 Rubi is getting 32's ... BFG mud terrains on 17" wheels. The drivetrain remains the same other than the Liberty engine replacing the 4.0L. I had an 02 4x4 Liberty that I just replaced with a Rubi. I never did anything more than "trail rides" with the Liberty but I did put 90k+ miles on it. The engine was great. No complaints.

it's not the Liberty engine though, it's the 3.8L out of the Dodge/Chrysler minivan. not the 3.7L out of the KJ.

I like it.

When the TJ came out in early '96, I managed to snag the first one in Oklahoma City, even though it had the 2.5L.

I sent a few of the pics to my wife, who is wanting to get a Liberty... and she likes it as well. So, the Liberty idea is gone and now the new Wrangler deal is a go... Cool

Looking forward to the near future when I can finally get back in a Jeep again.

Just looked at the closeup pics. I'm wondering about that rear transverse mounted muffler. Definitely going to be an issue.
