I'm looking at getting a garage air compressor, and I'm wondering what you folks are using and what your likes and dislikes are about them. I'm hoping to keep it in the neighborhood of $300, I don't want Harbor Freight, and I have to use 120v/15A. (The Navy moves me around a bit so I can't set up my dream garage in a rental place.)

Home Depot has the Husky, Lowes has the Kobalt, and then there's Sears. Any I may have missed? I plan on running the occasional air tool, (Current max tool cfm req't is about 4.) maybe some spray painting, but nothing major like a sand blaster. I'd prefer a larger tank, at least 15 gal should do it. Using the OBA to work on the rig has gotten old, and the wife agreed we could get one.

TIA,
Mark

I have an old, heavy black max air comp. its a 25 gallon tank but works like a dream, I was thinking a couple of weeks ago upgrading to a craftsman air compressor. Then I thought well what do I need it for? The thing I would need a lot of volume for is my sandblaster which I only use on some old tractors (whenever Im home which is never). So I would go with something from lowes that I saw, it was a 25 gal kobalt?(I think) but kept a consistant 125 psi which is perfect for almost everything I have. IMO I like the upright aircompressors, they save space and seem to do better in the long run so just throwing in my two cents.
