We just got in our First 2006 Jeep Commander!

MSRP $29,895.00
Invoice $28,085.00
There is a $1,500.00 Rebate on them already...

Not much to this one it is a 2x4 with a 3.7l V-6.

The only options on this Jeep are the upgraded color: Inferno Red same as my Wife’s Jeep Grand Cherokee that was just involved in a accident. And there is also a towing package on this one.

Standard on all Commanders: Side Curtin Airbags and Back up sensors and 4 Wheel ABS.

Here are a few digital photos I just took and if you have any questions let me know, greg@JeepTales.com.

If we have ours, you can bet they are starting to arrive in dealerships all across the country this week.

I like the size to me it's not as big as a Durango and still feels like a Jeep.

You have to choose, are you going to carry people or stuff?

I do like the new stereo with a Jack for your I-pod, there is a nifty step to access the rear seat. Not too much room for storage if you have folks in all the seating loctions. I think we now have a Jeep that will force us to use the overhead rack.

One other thing; a guy my size can ride to dinner in the third row but I would not want to make a drive to Austin crammed in the back seat. The second row offer more than enought space for adults but the third row is a Kid club house only.

I think DC has another winner!

Said it before and I'll say it again:
With all the stuff on DC's plate, this is what they give us? Deserves a new badge for sure.

Another yuppie-mobile. At least the grand at one point in time had a live front axle and was better looking.

It looks a lot better without that hideous chrome grille. That said, however, when they could've made the Rescue concept, why did we get THIS??? Roll Eyes

Lone Wolf,
I agree completely! A rescue with a cummins 5.9 would be awesome. I would buy one. But the commander is a low-riding independent front suspension POS yuppie loving mobile.

With the inception of the Rubicon,Unlimited then the Unlimited Rubicon. I thought DC was getting a brain and starting to listen to Jeep owners. But then this???? A 2wd Jeep??? and UGLY to boot. It looks more like a cheap attempt at the new Land Rover. What market are they looking at? What's next a Jeep minivan?....

Wait a minute that's it they're trying to lure us into minivan's. Confused

I agree with some of the sentiments posted, but after looking at one, I noticed DC has been listening (at least a little). Case in point, outboarded rear shocks and square tube rear control arms. Not sure of the rear axle, but it has a big hogs head.

Why they went IFS in the front is beyond me.

I do think that this will appeal to a larger segment of the auto buyers out there, and hopefully that will enable funding for DC to continue building the true Trail Rated vehicles we've grown to love.

OLT - DC, now that the Commander is out of your system...How bout that Rescue or Gladiator we've all been waiting for?

with a 4x2 it doesn't matter anyways Wink
It's all about on road driveability these days (hence the IFS on Grands, Libbies and now the Commander).

This wouldn't be my next rig in the Jeep line up though ...
