Hi,
I've got an 04' Grand Cherokee and would like to install lockers on both the front and rear axles. Please let me know which ones you prefer.

Thanks,
David

your first post ever, and you ask "which locker is best?"

Please search. Please respect the fact that your a newbie and not be too offended. That one of the stupidist questions asked. Next to, what's the best axle/suspension/tire.

SEARCH IT OUT

You decide what is the best locker. Don't let someone else tell you what the best locker is.

Confused

I'd cut him a little more slack. I don't even know what kind of axles they've got in the cherokees. We also don't know what other uses he puts his jeep to. What is best for me may not be the best for the next guy. Most people seem to agree that for a dual use vehicle, an axle that can be disengaged offer a pretty strong advantage.

For a time full size cherokees used a modified 44 that used C-clips. Don't know if anything would work with that arrangement. For most purposes, the electric lockers seem to be less complex to install and require fewer other components (lack of an air compressor and solenoids and attendant plumbing. Both need wires.) Call the rockshop here and get an opinion if you don't want to do the research.

where do you live?
That's important in case selectable lockers would be more suited (like snow, sleet, ice conditions and such).

What kind of transfer case do you have? -> do you have the AWD Xcase or a part time case?

MOre info is needed to even steer you in a certain direction Smile

BTW: welcome to the boards Rockcrawler

Hi,
I'm going with the ARB. I've heard and seen a lot of good stuff on them and since they are selectable, which is great to have.

Thanks for your feedback, I really enjoy these forums, there is so much knowledge out there, it's great to be able to tap into it.

Gentleman...

Thank you very much for showing much more restraint than I show. You handled the question with such maturity, that I envy you.

Thank you.

By the way, nice choice on the ARB. That's my choice hands down, but I'm biased.
