unless you have a sentimental attachment, rust needs alot of elbow grease to get rid of.

never used por15 but some other no-name copy and it did the job, just not fast. and the rust came back due to not knowing enough about primers and top-coats.

for body get rid of all rust traces and make sure to use a metal etching primer. i 've got a few spots i used it on and theres no sign of further problems. it was made by dow/essex frames are tough because it hard to get anything into the interior of it for cleaning of rust

Go to your local paint store and ask for a gallon of Ospho. It kills rust and is sandable and paintable. You just scrape off any excess scale and brush this stuff on. It is powerful stuff. When it dries on the rust it will turn black and it has done its thing.

It has been about 10 years since the last time I bought any of this stuff. Seems like it was about $20 a gallon. I gallon goes a long ways. Unless you need to do the entire vehicle. It works. Kills the s**t out of rust.

On my CJ5 I stripped it to the frame had it sand blasted and painted it with POR15 the stuff is as thick as molassas but works great, another product is called "Hammerite" True Value Hardware carries it. This uses fiberglass type flakes to bond things together I used it on my rear bumper and you can't hardly scrape it off even on rocks.
