So I got to think'n again today Eek Looking at my YJ, I think if I used a front D30 housing from either an XJ or TJ it would be easy to fab up some links and run coil-overs. You could simply use the leaf spring hangers for the lower arms and then of course the orginal CA brackets on the axle end. The control arms will not be as long as a long arm kit, but will be considerably longer than a regular length TJ/XJ control arm. For the uppers, there is LOTS of room to fab up some brakets on the frame and then use the factory upper CA mounts on the TJ/XJ housing. For a track-bar I was thinking that a TJ/XJ adj. track bar would work if used with an XJ upper track-bar mount wich can be easily welded and bolted into place.

Now for the steering, depending on the length from the pit-man arm to the passenger side steering knuckle I think that a TJ/XJ inverted Y set-up would work too.

There is not much room under the frame rails for coils on a YJ, and defently not enough on the outside...so coil-overs would be your only choice.

I wish I made more $$$$$$$$$ so I can see if all these idea's would work! Big Grin Roll Eyes

I've been looking at that too. Just no leafy vehicle to play with.

You could also go with a radius arm setup and not have to do uppers. I'd probably stick with the YJ style steering, seems to work better on the link setup when the lifts are higher.

that's sounds like a decent idea, now just get to work and let us see pics of how it turns out, just don't cut anything off your frame and you could easliy go back in an hour or two if it didn't work.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!!

Yea, I wouldent be slicing anything off untill it works. My leaf springs are flexy and reliable so I dont have a need to change anything....just the urge to see what works Roll Eyes

As for the YJ steering, the reasion I woudlent use it is because of the track-bar angle compared to the drag-link angle....I think there would be tons of bump steer.

TJ Y-steering connects in the same place at a YJ normal setup right? The draglink on a TJ goes straight to the knuckle. Think its actually called inverted Y.

I think I'd pick a 'normal' steering and mess with the trackbar until it worked right.

OK...Im actully going to do this. It wont be soon, but it will be done.

I plan on picking up a HP D30 housing from an XJ. Then using Rubicon Express TJ front longarms. I can weld some brakets onto the frame to mount the arms, I'll weld them on the inside of the rails just above the front of my skid plate.....providing that the arms will reach that far back wich they should. Then I can weld some brakets onto my skid plate that can bolt onto the frame brakets just for added support. I'll need a track bar, I dont think I could get an adj. track bar for a TJ/XJ to work currectly but I may as well try...if that fails then a custom one should be too hard to fab up. Some coil-overs with some custom hoops and Im good to go! Cool

My goal to have this done by will be...hmmm... 2006 Tera Del Sol safari Big Grin This year I have a list of other things that have to get done before TDS Roll Eyes Eek

You can also fab a bracketfor the pass. knuckle for a better angle. We just completed this on a spring over project pics soon.

Teraflex has a massive high steer setup for$500 with new drag and tie rod we opted for home built

If you haven't burned yourself or cut something off while fixing your Jeep...you ain't doin it right.

My buddy with a yj were staring at our jeeps and was thinking the same thing. Let us know if this develops into anything. We were also thinking of just fabbing a long arm kit onto one also. Im sure it would work just fine.
