Hey I was talking to a salesman the other day and was told the Rescue was coming out early next year. Has anyone else heard anything of the sorts? That could make me hold off on buying a Jeep.

Cool! I haven't heard anything, but that would be nice to see it go into production. Maybe TX can get his team of top industry spys to lurk about Diamler-Chrysler and see what's up their sleeves!

Man...you have been Jeepless for a long time. How's life treating you these days?

Hmm I know they were searching for a name for the 4 door Wrangler, maybe that's what they are calling it.

Hope not, I was looking for something the size of the Rescue.

Yeah it's getting to be very old going Jeepless. I almost bought one last week. Drove 300 miles to Norman, OK and couldn't work the deal. With all the discounts on new vehicles these days, trade-in's really take a hit too. It was a Yellow Rubi Unlimited. I also found one @ Don Davis in Grapevine but, they told me it was sold so I didn't make that trip. I think I may just have to break down and order one. It seems like every time I get to the point of buying one, life happens and I have to put it on hold again. I think part of my problem is I want to do the same as when I bought Ol Yeller. Lift it and all right after I buy one. But, I keep spending all my funds on other things. Anyway...other than that, life's not too bad. It seems as though we're finally settling in up here is SW MO (even though we've been here a year). I'd gotten a promotion a few months ago so work is going ok and all. What about you and the Mrs.? If ya'll ever come up towards Branson, ya need to let me know and we can hook up and play tourists. Or, better yet, maybe I'll have a Jeep and we can go wheelin. We're not that far from Disney, OK and I'd heard there was a new private ORV park opening about 40 miles east of me, Seymore, MO. I'm not sure if that's fact or fiction though.

Sorry guys, the production "Rescue" is just the new 4-dr TKL. The only thing it shares in common with it's concept namesake is the styling.

What the heck is DCX thinking naming unrelated production vehicles after concepts? The Commander was bad enough, but calling the TKL the "Rescue" is going to really confuse the general public, especially if it's already confusing Jeepers!

The saleman I talked to the other day said they were already taking orders to see what kind of response they got. I got excited but now that I know it's not like the concept, I think I'll stick with the Wranglers.

I know.. I like the soft top and all, but covering the whole Jeep in fabric... What were they thinking ? Oddest thing I've ever seen Smile

Think I've already made up my mind.. building up a J-truck or M7xx to fill the void.

You mean stick with a SWB 2-dr? That vehicle IS a Wrangler, it's the new 4-dr Wrangler (TKL).

Jeep should have come out with this vehicle 4 years ago when they got rid of the XJ.

They should of just kept the cherokee, and offered a rubicon package with it.

Well I guess I should clarify myself a little more. If they make a 4 door convertible Wrangler (TKL) then I might be interested. Or, if they made the fullsize Rescue like the concept, I might be interested. Otherwise I'll stay with the TJ's.

Um....Hey if you know something, spread the word. Silly question but are you still in the Jeeps of North TX? Do you and Jen still have the TJ?

I've just heard from multiple sources that both the TK and TKL will be available with soft tops and hard tops. Fold down winshield, removeable doors are still there too. 33's on the Rubicon models. New pull-handle-style door handles. I've heard that full-time 4wd will be offered on at least the 4-dr model.

Yes, we're still in the Jeep club down here, it's now called Lone Star Jeep Club (LSJC) though. Still have the TJ too: http://jeepin.com/projects/mudmachine.shtml Smile

Well I can't help it! The Jen's TJ looks better than Big Red. Mostly because it's yellow! Wink Rockcrawler

So when did the name change happen? I guess the Lone Star Jeep Club rolls off the tounge about as good as The Jeeps of North Texas. Since I haven't had a Jeep for a couple of years, I really got out of the loop on what's going on.

The name change happened about a year and a half or two years ago now I guess. It's been a while. Personally I liked the old name better, because "JNT" flowed a lot better than saying "LSJC", but it couldn't be helped (very looong story).

It's good to know folks remember the TJ every now and then, most folks think of us and the site and think BigRed and XJ's. Smile

After I traded off Ol Yeller in March of 03, I got all bummed out and stopped keeping up with any of the Jeep sites and the club. So I guess that's why I didn't know about the name change.

Yeah I'll admit I'm guilty of that one! Eek I've visited the site a few times since I've started trying to get back into Jeeps just to see what was going on. I suppose I should re-register.
