I'm so angry I can barely type.

After doing 14 hours at work today, I get out to my Jeep, which is parked in a privately owned parking garage downtown, to find out that it's been broken into - for the second time in six weeks.

This time they've got my insurance card and registration, along with the owner's manual which they were in. Since I got broken into last time, I've been pulling things out of there that were of value. Seems that there's no lower limit to what people perceive as 'valuable' - a bag of bungee cords that I use for strapping my bike?

So I'm sitting in the house after taping up the now totalled side window (they cut their way in - at least through the same window that the last person burned their way through) and filing the usual police report, trying to calm down with a 12 y.o. Macallan and trying not to think too hard about the genius of the criminal mind that now has my address, and could figure that when the Jeep's there, then I'm not at home. Or perhaps it was just a bum from the bus station that wouldn't know what to do with all that sheat, and that I'm too paranoid through anger just now to think rationally.

In any event, I'll be going to bed with my hockey stick just in case. There's a 'make my day' law in Colorado - my day's already been made, thanks. The way I feel just now, I'm not afraid of making it someone else's.....

That sucks !!! I wouldn't worry too much about the info they got off your insurance card and stuff. First of all they probably can't read, and secondly I bet they dumped it all in the trash once they found out it wasn't worth enough money at the pawn shop to score em a crack rock.

sorry to hear about this. **** theives are too numb to realize the zipper is almost as quick. on the good side i think i have a used set of windows from a 97' tj oe soft top if your interested. took them off a while ago so don't know the shape there in but don't remember them being too bad. rear window and rear side only. not fronts

i know how you feel. my jeeps been broken into twice now. 3rd time i popped a guy in the mouth as he was trying to get in.. full running hit to the mouth. didnt calm me down though. got into his car and they boned out. like 4 vato's. anyways. its sad but if its a soft top, dont even bother locking it up. they do more damage getting in than they do getting what they're after. tops arent cheap. just be glad you have a jeep to return to. ya know?!
on another note, try to get a SILENT motion sensor for it and a pager. when it goes off you go running, then you go off.! thats a make my day law if ive heard one. i'd love to pop a mother ****er in the mouth again. good luck

Thanks for the offer wank, but it's the driver front upper soft part that's been the test bed of criminal evolution lately. At least they've been using the same side.....

So now that it's as good as gone, I should start looking at something else. My options:
- OEM stealership replacement: $350
- Bestop upper fabric replacement: $150ish
- Bestop upper 'slider' inserts: $450 pair
- local and crap (and I do mean crap) repair: $100
- more clear parcel tape: $1.99
- any eBay combination of above

Last night I had a nifty idea - park jeep in quiet corner of garage with top down etc. Get my hands on a 27" color tv box, and place in back seat. Hide inside box with Louisville slugger. Wait. Wonder how long it would be before hopefully the same s**tforbrains decided to pull a fast one again?

It's just been one of those weeks - if I had a dog, it would probably have left me. And I hear the bit about popping someone's gob. There's been too much aggro this week - perhaps I should start playing hockey again. The bike just doesn't appear to be getting it out any more......

Here's an evil idea I've been wanting to try.
I was thinking about using a box wrapped up like a gift, but you could use anything like a hollow TV. Inside it place some chlorine like from a crushed up pool tablet, and then put an open can of brake fluid upright surrounded by the powder. When they remove the box from your vehicle and put it in their's, the brake fluid will spill and mix with the chlorine. About 3 minutes later when they are a good ways down the road, it spontaneously combusts, setting their getaway car ablaze. You could use a smaller box, if your theif was stashing the goods in a backpack. I imagine that would suck for him too. Chemical fires don't go out too easily.
Okay, sorry, it's evil. But how cool would that justice be?

McDougal that is just down right evil... I love it! And hey just think about it, isn't fire supposed to purify the body? So hey you never know, you could toast his @$$ to a crisp and send him to what ever after-life he may or may not believe in purified. Or atleast beat pink floyd video where the guys running down the street on fire. If I were you Incinerator... I'd go with Mcdougal's idea and live up to your name. But thats just me, and I have no tolerance for theft.
