Well it all started like any normal Sunday…

We went to Church this morning, picked up some breakfast from Taco Cabana on the way home.

My wife went grocery shopping with my daughter and I went to help a teacher friend of ours hang some Dry Erase boards in his classroom before the first day of school.

When I was done I left my friend off at home and took the Rubicon to be detailed and filled it up with gas for the start of the week. When I got home my wife asked me to take out the Grand Cherokee Overland out to get it detailed and fill it up with gas too. My daughter and I ran a few more errands and then met my wife back at the house about 5:00pm.

Our daughter had a youth group meeting at church so we headed out for the evening’s events at church. We piled the family into the Grand Cherokee and took our usual rout to church, since the Grand is my wife’s she normally drives around town. It was about 10 min to six and we were heading North on Babcock in San Antonio.

As we approached the Hausman Road cross street this girl in a 2001 Hyundai Accent crosses in front of us. This is a stoplight two by two intersection with nor-protected left turns. When my wife saw she was turning in front of us she slammed on the breaks but it was too late we were almost in the street when she turned in front of us.

Thankfully, we had slowed enough that the force of the impact did not deploy the airbags in our Jeep. I guess you know what happens when a Jeep Grand Cherokee T-bones a Hyundai. Her car is so screwed. We had some fairly substantial damage to the Passenger Front Quarter: Hood, Fender, Front Passenger Door, and all of the Lower Fascia on the Jeep.

Right after the impact I was talking to my daughter to make sure she was okay. This Girl is still talking on her cell phone the look on her face never changed. I can’t open the passenger door because her car is tossed in my way. My wife gets out of here car and ask the other driver if she is okay then she says “Get off the Phone!”

This girl yells at my wife and says “I had a green light???” My wife yells back at her, “So did we you don’t have an arrow!”

The police did not site her even though six or seven witnesses told him exactly what happened. She got a ticket for no proof of insurance, though I sure hope her coverage is in force. My knee is a little banged up from the dash and I have a small bruise on my shoulder. My wife is fine but she is still pissed. My daughter has a nasty bruise on her shoulder from the seatbelt. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. But, my daughter missed her meeting and my wife is not going to let her go to cheerleading practice for the next few days until she is sure she’s not badly hurt.

That guy I helped hang the dry-erase boards came to pick us up and give us a ride home.

My wife is a teacher too, so I need to give her a ride to work tomorrow for the first day of school, and our friend said he’d bring her home or to my office tomorrow.

This really sucks because I liked that Jeep, not to mention the $40.00 bucks of gas and the $28.00 car wash that was less than 5 hours old.

I guess I should be thankful that it was only this bad…
Here is the Google Map of the Intersection.

Oh yeah, and my wife; is still real pissed!

I don't blame her. Stupid people suck! BTW, is your name "JeepTales" because you like to tell stories? I liked all the detail you put in with the day's activities, but that was a long story! Smile

The Body shop called me and without taking off any body panels they are at $5000.00

The girl from the accident just called me and she does not have any insurance, she thought she did but she does not.

I'm a good guy....Why me???

The fact that we are not hurt is important but I did not need this right now.

sorry to hear about that Greg, but I'm glad to hear that everybody came out okay Smile

It sucks though that she doesn't even have insurance ... or maybe they don't allow her on a policy anymore since she's considered reckless Wink
i hope you get it worked out and I'll see you in a couple of weeks at the Palo Duro Challenge Smile
