I have destroyed 6 rear joints in my YJ in the past year. My driveline angles are right on the money. No vibes of any kind. They are stock joints nothing fancy. I cannot figure out why they keep going bad. Anybody got any advice?

to much axle wrap perhaps. to much torque going on in the drivetrain. cheap ujoints. improper installation. over tightening. undertightening. stop using autozone ujoints. sell the yj and get a tj(bring on the flame)... lol... uhm what else.... bad driving habits.. just a few ideas..
but seriously.. are you over/under tightening the straps?... what kinda joint are you using. remember that you want your pinion to be a little under when resting because when when you torque it will become what you say "right on the money."

Dont have straps anymore. After breaking 3 sets I got a U-bolt style pinion. Thing that is wierd is I have not heard of the RE springs having much axel wrap. Also with a stock D35C it has not broken. Get this here is a list of drive train parts I have broken. 3 sets of straps, 8 u-joint (6 this year) the Spicer Pinion on the SYE which is a JB Conversion and the biggy the cross shaft in the ARB which of course destroyed the locker. But the thing that has not broken is the axel shafts figure that. I have tried several differnt u-joints just not the high dollar ones. I think the most I have paid for one is 24 bucks and it lasted one hill climb. But got my money back as the 4 needle bearings split in 2. How do I check for axel wrap? Oh and buy the way I do have a TJ well really it is an LJ and has this trail name on the hood Rubi something. Big Grin

Do a lot of water crossings? Just throwing that almost lame idea out there. Might be washing the lube out, and if not replaced, might be a problem.. but I doubt it.

Sounds like you may have a damaged rear yoke. Is that the ujoint you mainly destroy. USE SPICER U JOINTS!
