So, the YJ ends in 95, and the TJ starts in 97. According to any website I've checked for accessories, etc, the only vehicles listed under Jeep for 1996 model year is XJ and ZJ.

WTF?

The TJ Wrangler was an early release in 96, but was designated a 97 model.

oh okay. so even though there is technically no 96 wrangler, the 97 was out early enough for people to not notice.

The 95 YJ's stayed out late and the 97 TJ's came out early so to say. There was zero production of YJ's during 1996 though, this is because there were so many design changes in the new wrangler (tj) that assembly line was shut down due to "re-tooling"...or so many new machines being added.

And...some of the late production YJ's have a few of the TJ improvements like front driveshaft and tailgate hinges. Also, the hoods on late '95's are a bit different. I've had to remind my local Jeep dealer of this when getting parts. Amazing how we found them in the '97 TJ parts book!
